A couple questions I have concerning the 6 speed manual transmission.

There’s plenty of talk about how much more powerful the Wrangler feels in the Auto 8 speed configuration, but how about with the 6 speed? Less sluggish now?

And is there noticeably less accelerator pedal input to get going? The JK drive by wire system had you really pressing down on that accelerator to feel like you’re going somewhere with any kind of authority. Hoping there’s a noticeable difference there

It feels 10x better than the JK. Just like the auto, it feels more powerful, too. It is hard to describe, but sluggish is not a word that even remotely comes to mind. It feels great and puts a huge smile on my face. The more I drive it, the more I love it. The accelerator feels very responsive and it doesn't have the delay the JK throttle was notorious for, either. It feels much more like a refined sports car than a truck.

Thanks DanW! I had read everything else you’ve stated, and watched the video prior to ordering my 6 speed Rubi, so I appreciate you giving me the confidence to get to that point.

I’m really excited to get behind the wheel and experience this first hand someday soon

You'll love it! The clutch feels totally different than the JK, but once you get used to it, you'll see it is much better and allows for much quicker shifts. It is just less truck like. That's the best way I can describe it. My wife drove it for the first time and after a few miles, she said she didn't like it. About 30 minutes and a number of miles later, she came back and said, "You know, I changed my mind. I think I like it better." Driving them back to back, again and again, drives it home. The JL clutch is MUCH better. The shifter doesn't even belong in the same zip code, as the improvement is just overwhelmingly good, in every way.

I can't wait to hear from you after you put about a hundred miles on it!

Right on! Thanks for the continued review.

You’re making it sound quite a bit like the clutch on the newer generation Tacomas. Kind of car like, but not quite, and clutch grab is very quick, which I’ve grown to like on that truck. IMO, makes 1st gear engagement a lot easier, but requires a bit more skill to keep the shifting smooth, which isn’t a bad thing, but something to pay attention to. That’s the best way I can describe it.

I’ll definitely be leaving my reviews on here as well. I’m sure it’ll be good ones :)

This was the fix for the previous accelerator lag problem; I had it on my '12 JKR. I'm glad to read FCA finally made this problem go away, thanks.

There’s no reason any of us should ever have to buy a sprint booster. They have the technology to adjust sensitivity between hi range and low range gearing, which is what that was about on the JK I’m sure. The JL likely has a different “booster” calibration for low range, so that we’re now able to have the appropriate pedal feel in high range for daily driving needs

I have a 2015 JK Sport 2 dr, with 3:73s, had to order new , all stock had 3:21s. I have no complaints on shifting, acceleration, maybe a lot of ccomplaints are due to the 3:21 with taller tires. I run Rubi take-offs on mine, that, and towing, is why I opted for the 3:73 gearing. In any case, I'm looking forward to trying a JL Sport, stock 3:45, with those 31" P245/75/R17 that are also stock. Thanks for the Reviews

Growing up in the good ol' days with direct throttle linkage to carberators I haven't driven a throttle by wire vehicle yet that is mapped how I would really like it. I do like electronic fuel injection but the throttle by wire mappings in my experience are either to abrupt off idle or pick up to slow when manuevering in traffic.
My biggest disappointment when new technology is added that could provide benefit and it is just used as a cost savings.

IE it would be so easy to just allow 10 pre-programmed modes. They could be burried in a menu or whatever, but no reason they couldn't just do that. I had something similar in my M3, but of course this was bundled in an upgrade package.

...and don't get me started on synthetic costing more because it would last much longer and now they lowered the bar back to the same cycle as conventional...

I've been pleased with reports of the JL manual trans. I was always gonna buy a manual Wrangler, and waiting this long meant another upgrade from old tech!

For anyone that's driven both a manual JK [pentastar] and JL, is the new 1st gear ratio noticeable? The higher standard diff ratio combined with that sounds like they should crawl really nice and slow in 1st gear lo-range.

Yes, VERY noticeable, even with my JKUR running 33's and my JLUR running 35's. Both have 4.10 diffs.

Would anyone with a Sport, 3:45 s MT chime in ? Those P245/75/R17 are about 31.2", would like to know how it pulls in 1st gear, thanks

My money says it will pull better or at least as well as a JK rubi with 4.10 gearing. That 1st gear is LOW.

Kinda nice they went that route. The new diff ratio, 1st ratio, and 2.7[2?]:1 transfer case should mean the first gear crawl is worlds better than my old 87 4Runner
