All these results seem pretty strange considering that TFL got more than the EPA rating:

Over the years I've had various cars that often got better than the EPA ratings, under certain conditions.

Differences of few mpg can be caused by so many variables: ground speed, engine speed, driving styles, tire pressure, tire wear, tire size, weight of passengers and cargo, wind speed and direction, constancy of wind speed, road surface texture, rain or snow on roadway, altitude, level roadway vs frequent changes in elevation, frequency of changes in speed, how quickly or smoothly the driver presses on the gas pedal, overall gear ratios, gaps between gear ratios, tire size and weight, type of tires, use of cruise control or not, quality of gas, traction, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, outside temperature, octane rating, amount of alcohol and other additives in the gas, traffic conditions, software settings that determine shift points of automatics or how and when the driver shifts with manuals, engine wear, engine tune, how much the engine is broken in, not filling the tank exactly the same each time, proportion of street vs highway miles, and probably several other factors. To complicate matters even more, the combinations of, and interactions of, these many variables may be more important than the individual factors by themselves.

Conclusion: I wouldn't draw any firm conclusions based on 1 to 4 or so mpg differences between models and drivers. I'm not saying that mileage doesn't matter, obviously it does to most folks.

They are designed to run fine on regular - just make sure it is a "Top Tier" gas.

Consumer Reports did a study on gasoline within the last year or so and concluded that "top tier " brands were worth the few extra pennies. I switched to top tier only.

I switched years ago, too. Didn't know that CR actually did a study, though. Before fuelly, I kept a spreadsheet and figured that out myself, lol.

Driving a Rubicon here, filling the tank it shows between 450-490 (Kms) for a range lol (this is terrible) but I'm driving it like a lil v6 race car as well

I use 94 in it now but not all stations have it so whatever the best is, first oil change will be Pens Platinum, use it in my F150s and notice s small difference (in the v8 because with whatever full synthetic ford uses I noticed once oil life hits 65-70% my range seems to drop some, after going with the Pens ultra platinum or whatever I noticed the drop in the 45-50 range).

Wow! That works out to around 17L per 100km. I know we're using winter gas but I sure hope your mileage improves as you use it.

17.4mpg after 4 days of driving ... some highway, but mostly suburban stop & go every mile.

Our 2014 Durango was getting about the same gas mileage for the first few weeks after buying it new. After a month, the efficiency improved to about 19mpg after the break-in. I'm expecting the same with the JL. They have basically the same engine & transmission.

Honestly it’s me driving it like a race car, 0-40 in seconds off the line at stops and red lights (in safe places while there are no other vehicles etc). I’ll stop once new wears off
