Mine was the same way. Almost seemed like it wouldn't shift at first, now after doing it several times, it shifts easily.

Now if I can just get 4WD Low down so it doesnt sound like I’m going to grenate the transfer case

I’ve shifted maybe 15 times in the last few days and it’s just as stuff. But, it sounds like it’s a normal experience. Hopefully it will subside over time.

So my wife said the same thing about shifting into 4H the first time and that it banged and popped back out. She had a difficult time getting it back into 4H. Since then she has been using it in the snow without issue to my knowledge.

However, last night I changed the oil and saw what looked like some kind of oil, yellow, slippery (maybe mixed with water) around the transfer case linkage. Looks like the driveshaft had spun and sprayed it.

I had same issue yesterday with 4H to 2H shifting on 100 mile ran Jeep.
Finally it shifted. I tried when the Jeep was cold. I will try again when properly warmed up and see if that helps.

UPDATE- Much better when the jeep is warmed up. First time I shifted it was 45F and vehicle was cold, second time, similar temp but tried after a 25 mins drive and shifted from 4H to 2H and back without any issues.
