I have a JLUS and when shifting from Park into Drive, there seems to be an excessive lurch of the transmission when you shift into park. Is this normal? Do the U-joints and the transmission have that much play? I feel like it should be tighter than that. Last jeep I had was a manual TJ, so it’s hard to reference anything on an automatic jeep.

It's fine. Little lurches here and there aren't anything to worry about. Mine does it here and there.

Normal on all autos. Most pronounced when you park on a hill.

I personally put it in park and before releasing the brakes pull the hand brake 2-3 clicks, that will take weight off the tranny and limit those jerks next time you get in.

If you shift into Neutral and then Drive the aggressive shift is gone.
