anyone have experience with adding a remote starter to their JLU 2.0? Considering a Compustar for $350 installed. Anything I should be concerned with?

Are you sure they have one for a JL?

Push button start is not an easy bypass for aftermarket remote start.
I have a 2013 Range Rover Evoque with push button start, no aftermarket remote start available.

I should correct myself, there is no kit available for the jlu that has manual locks (no power locks)

I wouldn't think there is an aftermarket kit for power lock equipped vehicles either. Mopar might be the only way.

I got a quote at the dealership of around $200 to install the Mopar kit (parts are $395 MSRP, but can be bought online for around $320). And that's at the $65 labor rate that new JL owners get.

So, you're looking at over $500 to add the remote start kit. That's a lot of money. I'm having second thoughts.

I just bought a Fortin unit for $61 model EVO-CHRT6 (with T harness). I already have the flashlink updater tool(about $40) to decrypt the key. No dealer is needed with this tool. You can use the factory keyfob

I have used this Fortin Brand successfully (with me doing all of the installs for my personal vehicles since 2013) I used this on my 2013 Ram1500, 2017 Ram 1500 and my current 2018 Ram 1500 as well as my older 2011 JK Wrangler.

It is a little complicated and you have to solder 4-5 wires with this JL Wrangler kit but does come with a T Harness, . The instructions are a little confusing, but I now have good experience.

I will soon instal this on my 2018 JL (2 door automatic 3.6l) in the next few weeks (In the mail as we speak). This is my first push to start install but the wiring instructions look very similar to the way I installed it in my Keystart Ram1500. Ill update when I have it installed and working.

I was waiting since August for Fortim to release this, and they sent me an email saying it was just released 1 week ago.

Note: You must get the T harness and it must be updated with the Flashink tool.

I’m curious to know how your installation turned out...
The installation went great. I also had them install an extra feature that allows me to start the car from my phone.
You can start it with the OEM key fob as well by pressing the lock button 3 times, but after market is 3000 FT range. \And of course you need to keep the original key with you still.

(MY START PLUS) - the no fee version. https://my-start.ca/home.aspx

There was another one that was monthly subscription - DRONE MOBILE - https://www.dronemobile.com/

The take over is pretty simple.

Remote start the vehicle,
Unlock the doors
Press brake pedal and drive.

Worse case scenario while the car has been remote started - If some breaks in without unlocking the doors, the car will shut down.
Hope this helps you out
