So I've noticed since I've had my 2018 2.0 jl for 1 yr now that if I sit for about 20 minutes of just idle I get a message that start/stop is unavailable and that it needs to be serviced, it's only done it 2 times now and if I turn the jeep off and restart it the message goes away. Has anyone had this happen. Should I take it in to be looked at?

I had an issue with the start/stop on my 2018. It was an issue with the backup battery. It's my understanding that the start/stop feature will only work if the battery (primary & backup) and adequately charged and opperational. I'm wondering if battery power/issues are what's causing your issues.

My brand new 2020 had that issue from the dealership. Thank god, it saves me from hitting the button every time I get in the car! When I take it in for service I'll be sure to tell them not to fix it!

I don't mind it honestly, If I ignore it I don't want it to cause other problems

I have no idea what issue, if any, the lack of a start/stop feature would present. If anything, starting and stopping an engine is probably the most stressful thing you can do to an engine.

Does your jeep have 2 batteries? Mine is the 2.0 turbo with the belt start generator and has a secondary battery which is tied to the secondary battery

I would have it serviced. Above video shows you where the battery is also, can be tested and replaced if needed the 12V.

The 2.0 has 3 batteries I believe: main, 12v secondary and the BSG 48V battery pack under the vehicle. The 48V pack has an 8yr/80kmi Federal Emissions Warranty.

EDIT CORRECTION: 2.0L has only 2 batteries. Small 12V under the main is absent.

So I had it serviced today and there wasn't anything wrong with the batteries other then it needed a software update. He also said the battery in the tray on the frame is basically no bigger then a motorcycle battery.

Do you know the build date for your 2018? I have a Oct/Nov build date on mine. No issues but wondering if there is an update available though generally, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Mine says September of 2018. It wouldn't hurt to see if a software update is available for yours.
