Awesome read! I will go this route as I can get a JL Sport in the low 30 range vs 35+ for power locks. I don’t care for power windows really as living in south Texas I need AC at all times even winter lol.

I have a 2018 Unlimited Sport 4 door JL. I purchased 4 generic door actuators and a keyless module to control the actuators. I took the driver's door panel off and noticed that the cables to the door handle and door lock come off with the panel. On the older jeeps the door handle and door lock cable are attached to the actual door making it easier to mount the actuators. Does anyone have any insight on how to attack this other then going to a dealer or aftermarket shop. I'm pretty handy and would like to use what I bought maybe just add a kit to adapt it.

If one was to find the doors off a wrecked vehicle what would need to be done on the Computer side etc to add power windows and locks. I wouldn't mind trying to find a wrecked JL and getting the doors.

Hi everyone ... newb here... just picked up a JL Sport this weekend... love it... and didn’t care too much to upgrade to the s, but would like some power locks installed. I was looking/reading around and it looks like the 2017 power lock kits/actuators are a bit of a hassle to install on the 2018. Has anybody found a kit that installs easily or some other solution (just working with generic actuators) that doesnt take too long? Thank everyone... looking forward to many upgrades!
I bought a JL about 3 weeks ago. I also wanted Auto locking doors since we already locked our keys inside, luckily we were home and used the spare to get in. I broke down and am having a professional company install door locks. These are OEM door locks because they said the aftermarket locks are having problems jamming after they are installed. The cost is $800.00 but worth it.

Wrecked JL? They just came out, don't think you'll find one right away!

Do you know if all they did was replace the actuators like mentioned above and wired them to an external keyless controller like the viper? I priced the parts under 200 bucks and tempted to tackle them myself.

Any update on this? Are there any options to use proximity, rather than a keyfob?
Actually, It would be great it could use the signal from the factory keyfob. The factory key is too big as it is, and I would rather not carry two fobs around (one for the locks, another to start).

I would imagine that you'd be able to get an OEM key fob with the buttons for the power locks and program that to your vehicle. You'd probably need assistance from the dealership (a flash for power locks), but depending on the dealership, that might be difficult to accomplish.

If you want to use the OEM key fob, you would need to change the computer out in the Jeep. It sucks but for 800.00 I had to use an aftermarket key fob.

Alright just bought all 5 latches from Tasca Parts for 237 shipped. Not too bad. Getting a little nervous but we'll see how this goes. Romeo, did you put any switches on the door or you simply use the key fob? with the Viper setup?

@romeoz hey Romeo, I got my latches in. Do you know what electrical wire were needed to get the actuators wired to the alarm keyless module? I see the actuator has the plug where the factory harness probably plugs in to.

Hey can you share how you wired these up? I have the locks and harnesses but wasn’t sure if I could actually use the harness with a viper box (expecting to retrofit it). Or if I should do some custom solution. Thanks!
