Will do! What color are you planning to order? I went with white and tan interior. All colors will be offered again in 2019 except mohito (neon green)
Billet Silver and Black, with Dual Top, Cold Weather, and Tow packages. What percent discount did you get off msrp or invoice?

How exactly are you able to negotiate a special order?

Just put a refundable deposit down on a 2018 MOAB that the dealer has on order. They ordered three for their stock. They would not budge on the price as they said it would sell at full MSRP. Is anyone able to get a discount or purchase for less than MSRP?

My view, every factory order is a special order, whether its a Rubicon, Sahara, or MOAB. Just like you can buy a Wrangler off any dealer lot, you can order a MOAB from any dealer. If they want your business, then.... A MOAB is like any other Wrangler.

The window to order a 2018 Moab was incredibly small. Most dealers didn’t even know they could order them. I’m sure the dealer you went to is correct that they will sell it at full retail. Remember the amount of people who come to this forum and get the knowledge offered here is small to the number of people who just buy a Jeep at full retail. If you want to negotiate, wait for the 2019 order bank to open up and order one. Unless of course your deposit is on a Mojito Moab which will only be available this year.

That's easy. Every dealer can place the order for you and you'll get the exact same product...so you tell them, "this is exactly what I would like to order down to the last option...I'm having every dealership in town price it up, and I'll be placing the order with the dealership that offers me the lowest price, so let me know what your out the door price would be."

I got my special ordered JL for 1% under invoice by using this tactic.

Order placed 8/27, VIN issued 8/29. I’m by no means concerned yet, just curious.

The thing I don’t understand is that multiple dealers told me the Moab edition order banks were set to close at 6pm EDT on 8/27 so I was sure to get my order in before then. And then Jeep made the first public announcement on 8/28 - which seems curious if it wasn’t actually available to order on that date.

Whatever happens, looks like owning a 2018 Moab is going to make it fairly rare with such a limited order window. But I suspect it will be basically identical for 2019.
Well I know one thing...as soon as you get it, post pics!!! I can't wait to see it! Which color did you choose!??? :involve:

I was able to get 10.7% off MSRP. I ordered a white w tan interior, adding cold weather package and dual top w the body color hard top & black soft top. Paid just under $49k, MSRP would’ve been almost $55.

Here’s how I did it. On this forum there are pages of the dealers that offer the best deals nationwide. So I just emailed all of them and told them what I want and asked what they could do. Most of them just responded by saying “come in and we’ll talk”, but a few responded with real info. Koons in Virginia said they were selling Wranglers at 14.3% off MSRP. It wasn’t an exact quote on my build, but I decided to try anyways. I printed off that email and took it around to 4 dealers around Columbus. Basically I said I have this offer from out of town, but I’d prefer to keep my money here local and asked what they could do. No one could match that (and TBH I doubt Koons could’ve actually sold it to me st that either). But one dealer offered me a price that was about 10.7% off and said that’s the best they could do, and at that price they’re only making a few hundred. The others couldn’t come anywhere dollar, so that dealer got my business.

It is worth noting that I have a supplier discount through my work. Which would have been 1% below factory invoice. I think there’s other ways you can get that code through other means, check the forum pages. Also when the 2019 Order sheet is available, someone will post it here. Print it off. That will let you see exactly the MSRP and the dealer invoice for the car AND each feature you want. Puts you on even ground with the dealer.

And one final thing, offer to have your car serviced at the dealer. Most dealerships make more off service than they do off selling cars. So they’ll be willing to sell you a car at minimal profit if you promise to service it there. Some even ask uou to sign a paper promising you will (unenforceable but it’s a nice gesture). New Wranglers come with a Jeep Wave program which includes 2 free services for the first 2 years (basically Jeep pays the dealership for them). So you’ll want your first 4 oil changes to be at a Jeep dealer, might as well be where you bought it (although technically could be any dealership, if you do wind up buying out of town).

For those of you doing a custom order, tell the dealership you want a Sahara with quick order package 24M. That’s the Moab edition. Most dealerships don’t know about the edition but they’ll know what that means.

The Moab comes LOADED. And unfortunately you can’t remove options you don’t want. The only options are basically
- cold weather package
- towing package
- dual top package
- also it comes with the Rubicon rock rails along the sides, but you can swap to the Sahara side steps at no extra cost. I think the rock rails give a more rugged look but up to you

One final thing in special order negotiations
Don’t let them muddy the water by bringing in financing or your trade in. First negotiate the sales price, so you can be sure you’re comparing apples to apples. THEN once you’ve settled on a price and placed your order, start discussing financing. And ask for an offer on trade in.

Also don’t feel you need to sell your trade in to the dealer you’re buying from. Even though I’m trading in a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, I was able to sell it to Carmax for more than the Jeep dealership offered me. So shop it around.

Why can't we get more clarity on the status of the Moab ordering? Anyone else heard that it will be possible to order Moab in a couple weeks with 2019's?
