I have a Bachelor’s degree in business & marketing & went right into an office job for a while after school. When I got laid off from that job, I was back in school within a month to get an Associate’s degree in communications. I would love, love, love to keep collecting degrees (self proclaimed nerd & proud of it!), but daaaaamn they can be expensive!

I love financial freedom & successes, too! I fully support everything I have & do in my life on my own & I love the pride I feel from that! It makes everything I’ve accomplished so much more meaningful. That’s actually part of how Vida got her name, since Vida means life. She’s a dream come true representation of what I’ve done, what I’m doing & what lies ahead.

UGH...THE DOORS!

OK. So I've had my JL for almost a couple weeks....and I love it! BUT there is something that really annoys me. I dislike it a lot. It's the doors. Understand that for the better part of 18 years of driving my old TJ I would live with the doors and roof off (see profile picture). And living in Canada (and because I'm impatient and lazy) it's important to be able to take the doors off and put them back on quickly as the weather changes (same with the soft top....which I don't have yet and I already know it will annoy me too). My jeeps get rained on sometimes (too much?). The new doors, while they look nice, really suck for taking off and putting on. First, I ordered a Sport mostly because I wanted my jeep as simple as possible (and much cheaper than a rubi...but still crazy expensive). So I wanted no electric doors or windows so that I wouldn't have some harness to detach and corrode. But the Sport still had a damn harness...for what I have no idea! So I have to detach/attach that stupid harness. Second, you have to remove a plastic panel to detach the harness AND the cloth strap. So even though I want to just keep the harness permanently detached I still have to take off that damn plastic cover to attach the cloth strap again. Bad design. Third, the doors now have a useless metal "connector" that attaches the door to the body that you have to unscrew. So far I've just left it unattached but I can tell it's going to be a real pain to reattach it. It's just stuck inside the door really tight and I don't know if I can pull it back out. Bad design. Forth, when putting the doors back on its hinges you can't actually see the pin to put it back in the holes because there are pieces of metal blocking the view. So you have to hold the door from the outside to guide the pins back into the hinge holes without chipping the paint. Bad design. My jeep mind and my engineer mind have a lot of trouble accepting this stuff.

Again, I lived for a long time with it only taking 2 seconds to remove my doors. I just lifted them off and leaned them against my fence. Then just lifted them back on the hinges when putting them back on. Super simple. Hopefully I can figure out some work-arounds to get this simple jeep living back. I like my jeeps simple! Rant over....for now.

Ummm....no. I went 18 years without them. I'm good. I didn't even use the strap on my old drivers door.

I was going to try and catch mine as well, but brain farted it on my way to Buena Vista to hike Yale. Somewhere on 285, my odometer ticked over in a silent wave.

Well, now the miles just keep building. lol

Love that area. Drove a few of the trails and hiked Mt Elbert years ago.

I am completely with you, both on the serial learning and the self-made pride. While being born with a trust fund and a silver spoon must be pretty sweet, so is the sense of accomplishment when you create something from nothing (nothing except your hard work and risk taking, that is).
The only downside is that it’s sometimes hard to know when to feel safe and slow down a bit to finally smell the roses. But that’s why God invented Jeeps, right? Work hard, play hard!

6 days and 415 miles of fun here!

I posted the below driving report in the Turbo thread and thought I’d share with my 2-door brethrens in case anyone is curious about the 2.0L.

- I love how smooth and responsive the Turbo JL is. It drives very fluidly.
- Good accelerations, nice “oomph”. You definitely get that glued-to-the-back-of-your seat feeling if you floor it (I didn’t overdo it as it’s still early days).
- I’m only averaging 19 mpg so far. Hoping to get to the 20s after more mileage.
- I don’t seem to have any of the steering issues that were mentioned on other threads. Phew!
- Tire pressure was initially 41-42 and I drove it around for a short bit before getting it lowered to 37 as I was curious to experience the difference. Well, it makes a big difference. I had to work hard to keep it straight at 42, and not at all at 37. Keep it low!
- My one question mark / slightly negative impression pertains to braking. If I hit the brakes abruptly, particularly on a steep downhill, it oversteers. Obviously that’s something I avoid as much as possible, but I want to feel like I can fully trust my vehicle in an emergency, and I didn’t love that response. Hopefully it’s just due to still being “green” and will get better.
- Overall a really, really fun ride - and I love how quiet it is. It doesn’t roar - it purrs!!!

nice review! so glad to have you postin up about your Jeep finally! i do still find mine a bit squirrelly in certain situations, tho its much more refined than the JK its still a 2 door Jeep. i find that if you hit a bit of rough pavement it can pitch a bit too. i run my pressures on the higher end (38psi to 40psi) looking for better mileage and tire wear, plus im carrying gear, empty id lower it too. i drop the pressures dramatically for wheeling, 18psi to 24psi depending on load and conditions. i am confident that unloaded i could go down to 12psi. the turbo sounds like its a fun drive, very happy that you are enjoying it.

Now that you started there is no end..... it just keeps going and going. By April you should many more under your belt, just in time for the Easter Jeep Safari

I really like those covers, but they look pretty thick??

Ss it is I cant really get moved forward in the seat at all (my foots already at a not great angle).

Well, they are thick but not super thick. They should probably be stretched a bit more. John can maybe comment on it too, but I don’t think it makes a difference.
I have cloth seats, since I was planning on covers.
As I was putting them on, I realized, as I mentioned before, that the 2 door is not too big of an area. Every bit of room counts if you’re a big guy, I guess.
