I have this top. Just know you cannot go through an automatic car wash and use anything that uses a wax. The top can collect stuff on it-I got cottonwood seeds on it and had to get a lint brush. It tends to get dirty easily but a low power wash can rinse its off.
While this is good advice, our 2019 goes through an automatic car wash (the kind with the long flappy strips) about once a week, and the top still looks and operates just fine seven years later.

For those that claim automatic car washes are a no-no, how do you think the dealers wash the vehicles after an oil change. Every dealer visit I have had included a complimentary car wash. I doubt they have a team of employees to hand wash the convertibles.

Says who? As others have noted, dealerships do that all the time.

There are limits on weight due to the structure so roof tents mounted on the gutters seem to be a no-no.
Yes, there are weight limits on what can be put on a Wrangler, but are they any different than a Wrangler without a SOT?

I have a Crew Carwash membership and contacted them about the SOT. Their response was that it should be fine, but to ask a manager at the location I use to double check. I did change my wash package to one that does not include the ceramic treatment. I figured that would not be good for the soft top.

Update— ⚠ I was just informed that the 4 Hr guesstimate was Wrong ! the entire top had to be taken off (without screwing something else up ?) to install the plastic crossbars, new estimate ~10 hours labor. OK, only the $100 deductible This Time. It will be warrantied for another ~ 3 1/2 years. The next time a plastic bar breaks for no apparent reason ?
The risk/reward for the convenience as the plastic ages and gets more brittle ?!

Wow, that is crazy. If the out of warranty cost is crazy I would just swap to a soft top or hard top.

But in comparison, how many shop hours are required to fully remove a soft top or a hard top and reinstall it?

While I’m glad yours still operates the manual recommends against that which is why I said what I said. I’ll be avoiding any automatic machines. Lucky i enjoy washing my Jeep by had.

We’re looking at removing, some disassemble/reassemble, reinstall. That’s what I know so far. I do know had I known these facts I would have thought long and hard before getting it. The selling point for me was the convenience with the removable side windows.

I'm trying to understand your ~3 1/2 years comment. Was the issue covered under your (extended?) warranty?

Interesting. My Max Care just talks about covering motors for it, not the whole thing.

It’s less than a hard top.

It should be done today, I will update if the service writer was right or wrong and I have to pay.
