Going fast can be fun in any vehicle. You've never gone 50+ in a go kart? That feels insanely fast, significantly bumping up the fun factor.
Sure, driving fast is fun. I just bought my wife a car and it was hard not to pull the trigger on the Jaguar XF I tried out in the process. 380hp was pretty great. The car hit speed effortlessly and with poise. Super thrilling drive!

But I personally don’t derive any pleasure from trying to go fast in my jeep. It’s literally no funner to go 85 in the JL than to go 45 (for me). In many ways it’s less enjoyable. The jeep gives me the sense that I’m pushing it beyond it’s safe limits at higher speeds. I can also tell the Jeep is working hard to maintain those speeds. But I’m on a 3.5ā€ lift and 37’s. Maybe in a stock sport or high altitude it’d feel different?

There are tons of other vehicles that would be better if my goal was to enjoy speed AND go offroad. Bronco Raptor comes to mind, as well as any number of pickup trucks.

I guess I’m just saying if driving fast is part of the goal when choosing a vehicle, buying a jeep is a mistake.

Absolutely. For me it's a blast when going well under 1 MPH with me and the bystanders not knowing if I'll make it. But then again, I'm an adrenaline junkie, whether it's fast or stupidly slow.

None... but it pays well.
I look at it this way... peeps would get mad seeing their ride get passed by a Honda. Seeing a Wrangler pass is even worse. Mwhahahahaha!

I had a coworker say recently, he was surprised I made it to work. Meaning I litterally flew off the road on our snowy weather conditions.

Cruising 85mph in the freeway isn't fun or exciting in anything, it's normal everyday driving. The semis do it out here. Now do 85 down a washboard dirt road and over a 3' crest and tell me it's boring? It's like calling a 911 boring at the track because you never went over 40mph. Pushing the limit is what makes it fun. Its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow... even if the actual speeds are identical.

You don't have to get to 85mph off-road to have fun...hell, 40 feels like 100 on dirt.

But it's still not "fast". That's why this whole conversation is dumb. The Wrangler isn't fast. Don't try to rationalize it, or qualify it...just accept that fast isn't something that the Wrangler does well. It doesn't need to...it does plenty of other things well.

If 40 feels like 100 to you, try doing 100 in the dirt. 40 in the dirt is like doing 100mph in a real sports car. Rather boring in my opinion. I've driven dozens of different rigs at speed in the desert. Only 2 were better than the mojave as far as stock rigs go. The raptor and the trx. The JLU isn't much different, and the front suspensions are the same minus shocks. Fast is relative to the surface no matter how many times y'all want to ignore it. A 911 is slow at the drag strip but a blast at the track. A demon is slow at the track but makes the 911 look pedestrian at the drag strip. Would you argue that neither is fast because they aren't fast everywhere? It's the same with the desert or even rock trails. Run the Rubicon trail in 8 hours and tell me the JLUR isn't fast? Do it quicker in anything else you can buy from the factory and I'll concede that the Wrangler isn't fast. Context matters period.

What bothers me is when people insist on driving fast and they're a-holes about it: Tailgating, intimidating, disregarding other's safety on road and on trails, being loud/obnoxious for attention.

More often than not it seems the people doing this are driving lifted trucks or Jeeps with all the Gravy Seal accessories.

People who insist on ā€œopening her upā€ on the smoother sections of trail in Moab are also ruining those trails and contributing ammunition to those wishing to shut them down.

The number of sandy corners with big berms built up from idiots who insist on throwing rooster tails is ridiculous. Majority are SXS drivers for sure, but still. Self awareness is key in most situations if one’s goal is to not be an asshat and ruin it for everyone else.

Most of the hate probably coming from the 2026 Prelude owners, just imagine a 3.6 JL smoking you at the red light 😭
