Is it common for people steal trail lights?

It happens I know, but is it something to worry about? These lights are expensive and have quick disconnect wiring. Wondering if I have to re-think the installation to be more secure, or maybe less secure - pop them right off and hide them until needed.

Looking at these ($600+) for top of front bumper:

If the value of these are well known and they are easy to remove with a wrench, I may be out $600 before I get a chance to use them. I guess I could add to insurance policy, but wondering the consensus for those who rock expensive lighting and park outside their garage.

You can always get some keyed security nuts (Tamper resistant).

I used tamper-resistant torx screws and tri-groove tamper resistant nuts when installing my Baja Designs LP6 lights on the front of the Jeep. Figured it was worth it. Hard enough to install. They will at least slow down the thief. Got my stuff from McMaster-Carr online.

More like where you park as well (Restaurant, movie, even a trailhead if you go for a hike.)
I'll check out security fasteners, thanks. I guess they aren't 100% but if they slow someone down, they may move on.

And how many of those are there out there looking to nick your over priced lights really? When you look at the world with nothing but fear and suspicion it makes it such a worse place.

Ive lived in quite a few major cities that are "scary" and have had my car broken into exactly once in 40 years.

I never called anyone here a meth head. Please re-read what I said. There would have been a comma before 'meth head'. Why so quick on the trigger?

I have KC Era4 lights on my front bumper and Era1 near the A pillar. Don't worry about them at all. The bumper removal would be a pia since they would have to wedge an arm between the winch and bumper to remove the nut. Trust me, I know. A pillar is accessible but it would be pretty obvious whats happening. Nope, I don't worry about light theft.

you should....way more home invasions and thefts from vehicles than you can imagine...lots of attacks inside homes...it is not the Montana I was born in....if you think it is safe to leave your doors unlocked it is not.

I've never heard of anyone's lights being stolen. Nor of gas being siphoned / sugar put in since the filler neck was redesigned.

Not saying it doesn't happen, but it doesn't seem to be common.
