This is what I did and I love them for exactly that purpose and the turn signal covers the blind spot on the highway as well. If you look at them on my jeep, I had to cut and modify them due to the aftermarket fenders I installed. Normally they're a little longer than what mine look like.

Got a night shot of those?

I pulled of the interior foot well light, so when you unlock with remote/or open the door they come on for a few long seconds. They automatically shut off, then as well I wired up a switch so I have manual control to turn them on when I want or full off (never come on).
Had to use a 3 way switch, custom bracket to hide the switch then a solid state relay (to handle the "dimming" foot well light as the signal, then 4 white rock lights from Oracle).

They are bright, but love them as puddle/approach lights!

I just made these to light up when my Rockslide Engineering power steps deploy, the brand wanted $75+, I made the identical set, plus one extra light bracket for no more than $15 with the lights, and weatherproof connectors.

Perhaps you could wire something like this up and tuck it beneath your side skirt and tap into the courtesy light?

I might be biased, but I think the Flashtech Magnetic Mini6 are the brightest and easiest to install. They throw off a ton of light and make it easy to see where I’m stepping at night. I mounted them near the rock rails, and they’ve been holding up great.

I wired mine to an AUX switch so I can turn them on whenever I need, but you could also tap into the courtesy lights if you want them to come on automatically when unlocking the Jeep.

Here are a few pics of how they look:

Thanks! There are a total of four rock lights—two on each side. One is mounted behind the front bumper, and the other is positioned just behind the front wheel on the frame, with the same setup on both sides.

I use the LUX magnetic rock lights and then tapped into my footwell lights inside. When you unlock the car or open the door they come on. Had for 3 years now with zero issue.
im doing an infinite off-road rock light install. Had planned to tap into the footwell lighting. They have a Bluetooth that has a white wire that is supposed to hookup to the footwell. I’m concerned about the fade from the footwell as the footwell lights turn off. Did you notice anything with your leds?

Fade as in when the lights turn off they slowly get dimmer as they turn off. Yes they do. That’s not an issues for me as it looks more authentic.

I’ll give that a shot. Thanks. I wasn’t looking forward to trying to hook up a relay to trigger when the voltage dropped.

A standard relay will chatter when the voltage drops enough, I used a solid state relay and while it doesn’t dim out it does turn off without any chatter.
