I am currently vacationing in the YNP area and my wife and I have been playing a game. There are Jeeps everywhere and we guess if it is a renter or a jeeper before we pass them. The split was about 80/20 (renter vs. jeeper) and this is based upon the looks of the Jeep as well as if they wave when we wave.

Tons of Sahara's which were renters and no surprise there since both Hertz and Avis have Sahara's as the rental Jeep. I did see a number of overlanders and the rack on top was very nice on them.

If you have been in YNP this past week and did not wave to "The Grinch", you were labeled as a renter :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

Wasn't there this last week, but would have waved had I seen you. Photo taken January 2019 when I had my JL only one month. I must say the cold weather package came in really handy (it was -20 degrees).

We were in Foxborough/Plymouth two weekends ago for my cousin's wedding. Initially I wanted to rent a Wrangler because you know Fanboy and all, and my wife and parents who were along for the ride were like "HELL NO!" My wife especially, "I'm not spending $400 to sit in a non luxurious Jeep!" So I ended up renting a Audi Q5, which was honestly super freaking nice! I don't think I'd ever buy one, at $55,000, that infotainment screen is f***ing annoying, but beyond that it feels like luxury!

It's been a couple years since I've been back in Massachusetts, so I was kind of butt hurt while we were driving out to Mansfield from Logan International and I only saw it two jeeps and they were both JK's and neither of the drivers waved at me (Albeit from my Audi Q5).

Right around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday in Mansfield going out to get dinner, one Jeep, two jeeps, four jeep's, 16 Jeeps. The rest of the weekend was just every other vehicle we passed was a wrangler. I waved all of them, think I only got maybe two waves back.

Strangely enough, a whole lot of JK's, only a handful of JL's, and all the JL's I did see were 4xE's.

We passed by Station Chrysler Jeep of Mansfield, and I was trying to convince the wife and folks that they should let me test drive a 2024 while we're here, and I was met with a resounding NO! Though that being said, every single Wrangler that I could see on their lot was a 4xE. I was like, "we're definitely not in the South no more!"

To this day, with the JL-gen Jeeps now seven model years old, I still continue to see more JK-era Wranglers than I do the current version.

I've seen exactly one 392 in the wild, and maybe three 4xes. The sole Ecodiesel I've seen was idling in the dealer's lot, having just been offloaded from the truck.

Funny, that.

I've only been a Jeeper for few months now. I live in the Boston burbs. I see so many Wranglers that it seems almost goofy to wave. On my 15 mile commute to work, if I don't see 20 Wranglers it's an odd day lol.

Interesting. Gotta be the locale. Here in the burbs of the greater Los Angeles/Orange County area, the JLs now are well past the JK sitings. I'd say, I see 3-4 JLs for every JK these days, six and change years into the JL model production. But then, I see 10 Teslas for every jeep around here.

Massachusetts is one of the states that has adopted the California emission standards and FCA will not stock non-4XE Wranglers. Our state is one of the 15 or so that FCA does this. My dealer had about 30 Wranglers in stock the last time I stopped by the parts department, all 4xe.

There are tons of Jeeps in NYC.

Before the interest rate increase there were tons of Rubi’s on the road. I would guess 90% were renters. They have been replaced by the 4xe crowd. Most NY Jeep people have a Jeep simply for the “status” of having a Jeep.

There’s status in owning a jeep?
