You might consider an automatic for your first Jeep if you plan on doing some serious rock crawling. There's a lot going on and a lot of things to watch out for. You're artificially increasing the difficulty level. That might be your desire, but maybe not.Did you choose Manual or Automatic and why? I’ve seen that manual is much better for off-roading and gas mileage and it has a harder case on the bottom of the vehicle which is built stronger than the automatic.

I've always loved driving manuals (Miatas, 911s, JCW Minis, Civic Sis, etc.), but my 2nd Jeep will have an automatic.
