No, this whole thread is about disabling the air conditioner. Simply turning it off is the simplest approach to do that while also still having the ability to defrost / defog.

Correct. OP seemed to ignore the role that AC has in dealing with windows. I was merely suggesting that he turn of the damn AC when he doesn't want it running. Your approach of putting in a secondary manual switch makes a lot more sense than pulling the fuse.

So, I'm sure someone will be along to correct me. The AC pump runs on-demand (AC switch on), it is also programmed to run for defrost modes, and I believe there is a 3rd variable, it will run automatically based on the HVAC humidity sensor input, in any mode and whether you have the switch on or off.

My JK did this, and I believe my JL does this too.... At least in the JK it wasn't as simple as pressing the A/C button to turn it completely off.

I believe there is also a temperature at which the AC just won't run because ambient air is too cold and the system can ice.

I don't understand why people feel the need to freaking argue we all know we should be all old enough to remember defrost working just fine without AC just because some engineer decided it works better with AC doesn't mean you actually need AC for defrosting good Lord people.

I mean it wasn't even that long ago that air conditioning became standard in a JL Wrangler. What do all those other wranglers without AC do for defrost I mean come on people use your freaking brain for just 3 seconds.

It turns itself back on if the humidity is "too high"? That's unexpected.

The only problem with that it fills the tank so fast with unused gasoline that it spills out the fill spout.

What I do instead of turning off AC is run GY 35 x 12:50 x 17 on the rear, up front I run 29 x 7:50 x 12 on the front. So what happens is I am driving downhill all the time, talk about saving gas!!!!

2019 Wrangler JL 3.6. Your air-conditioning compressor is running more often then what you think. If it’s winter time, remove the fuse for your AC clutch (mine F18?)and you will see a gas improvement of 2 miles per gallon.

Do you guys think this applies to the EcoDiesels?

Currently my AC unit is kaputs, so I need to replace my AC condenser here soon. But because of how I'm going to be running my Wrangler for the next year, I'm probably not going to do my AC unit until next year, so I'm planning on removing the f18 fuse if only because I don't want to accidentally turn on my AC and burn out my compressor.

So basically I'm going to be pulling the fuse regardless, do you think I will actually see a MPG increase? Or is that just hearsay?

Try it and report your findings. In theory the AC should only turn on for defrosting, in which case the impact would be negligible.

Disagree - you breathe inside the Jeep. Heck, around here you can see fog form on the windows as the sun shines from the opposite side.
Iowa - you won't unplug that thing for sure.
It was always a big problem before car makers figured out that he helped to run the AC in the winter as well. The air here certainly isn't dry with humans inside and the heat going. You'll fog it up badly.
Heck, with my older cars, if I drive in the winter I carry paper towels and even an ice scraper INSIDE the car. One of them i had a dealer-accessory rear window defogger that was used a lot in our up and down weather in the winter months. They sold like hot cakes in our areas back then.
It can be so humid in the winter here that we have freezing fog.
