If your vehicle has ESS, I would not utilize them in a high priority circuit....... example: traction devices.
Can you please explain your statement ? I'm trying to understand what you mean... but it went over my head... thanks

For lights the red wires from the lights go to your aux switch wire the black ground wires from the lights go to the ground pin on the fender by where the aux wires are. It’s that simple. The aux switches already have power and relays.
Your winch should have a major power cut off switch or solenoid to prevent power draw when the Jeep is off and for safety.

The aux wires are a serious liability imo for Jeep....
No more liability then someone wiring up a winch or fog lights improperly …

False. Tapping into wires that were not intended for such is not a liability. Jeep is inviting people to wire non OEM components not engineered for the vehicle into the provided Aux switches. I law, bro.

Isn't that the purpose of the aux switch fuses?

all good until someone wires to one of the 40a switches with a run of 20 gauge wire through the interior.

Liability-wise, isn't that like saying Wrangler tow hooks invite owners to use 100 lb rope, and the hitch receiver invites Class 1 ball hitches?

If you are going to mod your vehicle you have to pay attention. The same could be said for attaching random things to the battery terminals directly since they are accessible, or plugging things into the '12v socket' that draw too much (ham radio installs have done this). If _you_ try to run 40amps over 20awg then that is on you -- the leads are the correct size and fused appropriately.

Yes, clearly the corporate lawyers who assessed the liability of the aux switch design thought so. And these open use switch systems have become more common across manufacturers.

It appears our Canadian law bro, doesn't have a legal argument to support his opinion (which in all seriousness I'd be interested to read).

Make it SIMPLE -
Any device I control via aux switches can be quickly disconnected, moved, whatever. Simple small screwdriver.
The 12v outlet is for my Christmas wreath - rather than running into the cab or wiring any other way, just plug it in. It's on the same circuit as the inside 12v outlet which is rarely used.
One battery cable to my winch disconnect solenoid, then I use the hot side of the solenoid as a junction point for the cable coming up to the fuse for the snow plow.
Simple, clean, organized, easy to mod, easy to disconnect in event of a problem as opposed to a direct solder to aux wire connection. All home-made out of scraps in my shop. (except the terminal strip that came from Menards)
