If you have a gas Jeep Wrangler or Gladiator with the engine stop/start system and you’re tired of dealing with the problems with the batteries, we’ve got a couple options for you.

The first option is a stock battery RELOCATION kit. This kit simply moves the small aux battery from under the fuse box to above the fuse box for easier access. All the wiring remains 100% stock.

The second option is a stock battery REPLACEMENT kit. This kit replaces both of the stock batteries with two new Group 25 size batteries, but it still keeps the wiring 100% stock. The new battery by the fuse box becomes the new main crank battery, and the new battery up front becomes the new ESS aux battery. By using two high quality AGM batteries the same size, you can expect much better reliability.

How hard to access the fuse box for each kit?

Looks like with the dual larger batteries the negative terminal might have to be disconnected to get to the fuse box.

I like the stock battery replacement kit, great idea! But I’m on a budget, I’ll probably just disconnect the aux battery, pull the fuse, and go with one battery when the time comes.

You are correct, you'll need to pull the ground connection on the Replacement kit.
For the Relocation kit, we wanted to make it as quick and easy as we possibly could to gain access to the fuse box if needed. It's just one nut on the firewall, and 2 nuts securing the little battery box to the big battery box. Then the battery can swing out of the way. Only takes a couple minutes.

This was my first reaction, as well.

Credit where credit is due - these are really smart solutions, and I love that as a company, Genesis now offers a few solutions, depending on how in-depth of a change you're looking for, what you're wanting to power, etc.

But I've never heard anyone be like, "OMG I love ESS and want to keep it no matter what"

But I've never heard anyone be like, "OMG I love ESS and want to keep it no matter what"
I like it, seems to be good for about 2mpg in city driving. Plus a dual battery set up is always a positive.

I'd like to see tech in the Genesis Offroad Stock Battery REPLACEMENT kit that switches off which of the two Group 25 batteries plays the role of the main battery, and which one plays the role of the ESS battery--for even more even wear from two identically sized batteries now periodically swapping their roles.

I'm flexible on the frequency with which this swap happens, e.g. each cold crank, every other day or week, etc.

Honestly you'd be surprised how many people we talk to that like ESS and want to keep it, but hate the little battery.

I think the ones that love ESS just don't say it out loud, but we do hear it a lot, that's what led to the development of these 2 options.
