i thought people were joking when they said "trail mater" lol. that guy impresses. he's like tow guy and mobile mechanic in one.
He drives that tow rig backwards up some trails that people are hesitant to do forward. Also drives lots of the hard trails pulling a trailer.

Anyone who can drive Pritchett pulling a trailer behind a dually is going to get it done. Rory is the real deal and amazing job on this one.

WOW! A lot more work than I expected. I assumed they would just put the meat hook on the front end and drag that rascal out of the blooming hole. Ol' Mike sure knows his stuff and Yes, Please!!! For the love of Pete stop shaking the truck while people are under it! Really!
That axle is clearly toast, but I'm actually surprised how much of it held together.

I always wonder what type of experience that driver of the JT actually has. Not unusual for people to think that just because they spent $80k on a vehicle and parts like Facebook groups told them do that the vehicle is indestructible and can go anywhere. Driving skill is still a big factor in regards to what obstacles you can do.
But back to the repairs. It looks way worse than it actually was because the tire rolled all the way under the Jeep. I've seen the exact same thing happen many times on the trail. It just usually doesn't look as bad because the tire just kinda' flops off but stays in the wheelwell area. The front axle u-joints are often the first failure point, especially when you get it bouncing and turn the wheel. The sharper the wheels are turned the "weaker" the u-joints are. When the u-joint breaks and you keep on the power they can easily wedge in the knuckle and press out the balljoints. If you watch the Trailmater video with the repairs they simply pressed the same balljoints back in. Looks like the only thing that actually broke initially was the u-joint that popped out the balljoints. Of course the brakes lines and ABS sensors were obviously broken, but often that doesn't happen because the wheel doesn't go that far away.

He had a bottle jack under the axle, and the Jeep was suspended with the line from Mater's rear winch from above. Using the tools he has with him.

Jeep bro in the tank top and shades did NOT need to be shaking the Jeep though. That's about as close as I've ever seen Rory about to lose his shit on camera.

I'm curious about the logistics of getting that thing out of there. It's not like they can drag it off the trail with 3 wheels.

Any recovery experts know how they'd get this back onto pavement?

Thanks for this! So far I really like their videos. It's not the usual flashy youtube stuff where they speed up the video to stupid music.

I also like whatever he has going on here with his shifters. I'm not sure what they all do but looks like fun:
