2023 JLU High Tide Trailer Hitch

I've installed a JK Wrangler trailer hitch and wiring in the past and it was very simple. It seems like installation on a 2023 JLU High Tide isn't simple. I think this is the right part:

But it doesn't have the notch for the wiring harness and also, it requires the removal of the rear bumper during installation (unlike a JK). Does anyone have experience with installing a trailer hitch and wiring harness on a 2023 JLU High Tide? What model of hitch and wiring did you install?

The Mopar kit has the wiring harness from the dash back to the hitch. I would try and get it as a complete kit instead of just the receiver you have a link for.

There is nothing special in regard to your 2023 High Tide in comparison to other 2018-2022 JL's in regard to adding a trailer hitch.

Yes, you can buy a Mopar hitch and Mopar wiring....... or pay way way less for a quality aftermarket hitch for JL and aftermarket wiring for the JL.

Many here have installed CURT brand offerings.

Install of hitch and wiring is pretty easy for most guys and even for gals..

You do not need to remove the rear bumper when installing a hitch on a JL.

I'm sure other's will reply to you in regard to their install experience. They may or may not mention a "metal plate --> "Mopar Bumper Mounting Spacer" your JL may have that if present you have to deal with... also you may have to slightly enlarge a couple of holes.. Again, not a hard install.

Install of the actual hitch itself is same same whether you go Mopar or Curt, etc..

As for the wiring .... easy and you do have to run a 12 v power wire which is no big deal.

I removed that piece without removing the rear bumper on my 2022 Wrangler Willys XR.

I did, however, drop the rear muffler down some by loosening the hanger brackets.

I installed a take-off MoPar hitch I bought from @Sssuperdave and I used a Tekonsha four flat wiring harness.

I removed that piece without removing the rear bumper on my 2022 Wrangler Willys XR.

I did, however, drop the rear muffler down some by loosening the hanger brackets.

That Mopar part is "Bumper Mounting Spacer - Mopar (68298924AB". Not all JL's actually have that part installed.

I'm not sure why you dropped the muffler down...(perhaps that gave YOU more room to work) but ... anyway, regardless .... as you mentioned, you do not need to remove the rear bumper to install a hitch on any JL. (A little prying and the spacer, if the JL has one, is easily dealt with.)

The install of the actual hitch itself on a JL can be done in about 15 min..

My trailer has a 7 pin connector. I would still pay the mark up for the Mopar.
My JLU came with the tow package. I did add the Mopar trailer brake controller.

Most all.... and for a host of very valid reasons ... if their JL did not leave the factory with the tow package 4/7 pin and they want a hitch on their JL.... they will just install a 4 pin and a hitch.

That‘s why I only went four flat; if I need to tow anything, I‘ll drag out the ol’ 2022 RAM 5500

I'm not mechanically inept. This weekend, I installed the JL hood lock, which involved setting various tumblers and many rivets with a rivet tool. I'm happy to install a trailer hitch if I know the right part number that includes the wiring harness.
