Thanks! I hate to say this but a 7" would look like it would be too short.

You would lose an amazing amount of reception with the 13" or 7" over the OEM... You may want to consider plasti-dipping the OEM antenna if that is of concern?

I only listen to Sirius anyway - I was just curious what size after market antennas people were getting.

In fringe areas, sure. I have a 13" rubberized one on mine, and in the few instances when I've wanted to check out an AM/FM broadcast it works fine in the Denver metro area. I just don't care that much about AM/FM to worry about the loss of reception once I'm out of the metro area.

I got a 3 month sub to the new car wash here, it's not the touchless kind. The first time I went through it mangled up my front plate, so I just took it off like I've been swearing I would. Virtually no Teslas have front plates here in CO, and I figure if they can run without one, so can I :)

Those manual type wash places are getting scarce these days though.
We have one just down the road a bit. It was remodeled maybe two years ago, and is pretty nice for what it is.

The facility had closed for a little while since there were enough rubes ignoring the "No Muddy Vehicle" signage to have clogged and eventually damaged the not-insignificant drain system that car washes require as a matter of design.

The security cameras revealed the offenders to be contractor trucks and, more so, Wrangler owners. Yep. As soon as word got out about the plate data being sent to law enforcement, for the sake of issuing citations/fines, the problem went away.

Funny, that.

I get that the carwash has the right to refuse service, but I'm surprised that the police would get involved in what is, essentially, a private matter.

The matter was processed, if that's the proper word, as vandalism and theft of services. The latter term actually appears, word for word, on a new sign that is adjacent to the car vacuums that were installed as part of the remodel that I mentioned.

So, not a private matter in the eyes of law enforcement, although I agree that your interpretation is also possible.

I have the stock antenna and have been thru several full service "old school" car washes, no issue.

Yeah the one here doesn't care. Wash engine if you want or ATV, trailers, off road etc.

Getting law enforcement involved in car washing is a stretch of public funds in my opinion I am sure they have better things to be doing.

You can even get your dog washed, whatever that entails.

If it's just a no touch pressure wash, no. I no longer use the brush washers, but if I did I'd remove the antenna.

I've also been through a number of these car washes with no problem. The danger to the antenna is an urban legend. [or...one created by the stubby antenna sales people to disguise the fact that your reception will go into the shitter once you convert]

Drive thru car wash is hard on your paint, find a good hand wash service around you. Your paint will thank you.
