Full time 4WD on a Rubicon - thoughts /experience?

You might be right. But I don’t see Jeep installing such a transfer case on Rubicon, let alone calling it “Heavy Duty.”

Not a question of might. The data and operation of the transfer case coming from the DTCM doesn't lie. Others have noticed the same behavior.

It's a fine system but it doesn't exactly function the way Jeep says it does.

Driving in Auto 4wd all the time is bad. I've seen many vehicles come in with around 100,000 miles and the previous owner did that. A lot of them need the t-case rebuilt case the clutches were smoked. I do like the system for those days when the weather is a little bad, but to use it for hard launches and stuff like that is pure abuse on the system.

Did all those other vehicles use the MP3022 Transfer case? Its been used in many many vehicles.

When in 4H-Auto the clutches are BARELY engaged. The vehicle spends most of it's time in RWD while in the auto mode.

Things that send power to the front axle.

1. Slippage
2. Throttle input above 30%

There is ZERO conclusive proof using the 4H auto mode is dangerous, fun fact it's a Magna Power AWD system used in more than just jeeps, so where are all these failures you speak of?

Most of the issues with Full Time 4WD transfer cases is people not rotating tires or replacing them promptly when they are worn out, even the slightest difference in overall diamter can wreak havoc on the clutches in the T-Case

That doesn’t look like very much at all. I said with around 100,000 and being in auto its whole life is bad. 70 activations can be in one day of driving in snow. A lot of people don’t understand what it’s designed for. They engage it and leave for the life of ownership. That’s bad.

I’ve had it in several jeeps over the years going back going back a long time. It’s good it works flawlessly remember jeep wrote the book on four-wheel-drive. For every day driving it rain snow up north down south it’s probably a good investment in the family vehicle or your wife your kids whoever may be driving so no brainer. It works well and mild off-road situation I’ve used it a lot when I lived up in the pacific northwest and did lotta offloading up there. It’s not a Rubicon rock track system so if your choice of offloading goes to the more extreme rocks or 5+ level trails up at Moab for instance that I would not go with I would use the regular system but overall it’s very good.

Except when the speed goes above 18mph then the transfer case unlocks, yes even in Part Time 4H mode

This is contrary to various other descriptions that I have seen as to how the Rock Trac transfer case works. My understanding (which may very well be wrong) was that 4H Auto uses the clutch system and the 4H Part Time uses a mechanical system that locks the case at 50%/50%.

Shit, I’m wrong most of the time. Has to be something different about them. Two different part numbers. The AWD of the 392 has to be setup different than than the 4wd Auto of the other t-case. Using a center differential type system.
