The connector above appears to be some type of jumper where you would supply power and ground to the mirror. Since you already have the header harness with OE plug just go the route we discussed.

I count tell you from just that picture. Theu changed amen colors based on year etc. if you don’t have the wire it’s too easy tk add the proper jumper. Only way to tell is purchase plug it in and see if it works. If you’re Jeep didn’t come with the Auto-dimming mirror u will need the over head harness to plug it in
I installed my new harness and added the correct pins tapped into the compass module wiring. I have added the mirror option with my tazer. I’m confused though that when I tap on the mirror, it just beeps and doesn’t change color. I thought it changes to an orange color to let you know it’s enabled?

Came accross something really peculiar today on my JLU. Maybe someone can shed some light. Spent the afternoon tapping my OEM auto dim mirror wiring into the Compass Module wiring (uses the same wires per LIN Bus system). When I got behind the passenger airbag, I found that this compass module wiring is not plugged into anything, it is just clipped into a slot in the dash trim. Funny thing is, my compass works…. How is this possible without a compass module. Do the tech package have compass embedded in the 7” screen or instrument cluster?

Long story short, I’m still not sure I’m my auto dim mirror is working, I have power and ground to the mirror, and the icon in uconnect, but the icon does not change color to signify activation when tapped…

You might need to add the auto dim sales code in order for it to be incorporated into the BUS system.

The compass is tied to the satellite antenna. Disconnect that and your compass won’t work anymore.
I’m having a hard time picturing the compass module you’re describing.

Here’s what I’m referring to. Like I said I followed the wiring to an open connector right where the diagram shows a module would be.

Thank you for your help! I’ve got messages out to Z automotive to see if the tazer actually adds this code. It does seem like it correctly added the feature to UConnect, but not added to the BCM. Thanks and hopefully you are on to something!

This is what I tapped into. Removed my airbag and found the correct colored wires that are shown for the compass module. I’m 100% sure I’m using the correct wires. Orange/violet is the linbus and yellow/pink is fused ignition. From there my black wire goes to slot 8 and my red to slot 4.

Got ya yeah the connector looks right now that I see it. Might just take a few restarts for the radio and BCM modules to all sync up and read it. I tested it out by using my phone light up against the sensor area on the mirror and watching it dimm.

Does your dim mirror icon change colors when tapped on the touchscreen?

Yeah I know it’s supposed to. Mine does not. It’s like my tazer has only added the feature to uconnect, but not to the actually BCM Lin bus. Hopefully Z automotive can give me some answers. It may take a dealer flash like Benny said.
