Drove up 8 hours up to Wilmington, Delaware on business and the rear passenger window suddenly rips away running 70MPH in a 65MPH zone. I recovered the window but I was either run over or the failure point was a split all the way down the middle of the hard plastic 90 degree part. I have a 2018 JLUR but swapped my stock hard top with another forum users 2020 premium mopar tinted soft top. I had the top down earlier today and am 100% sure I reinstalled the window securely in all the tracks. There is a puncture in the tinted plastic now about 3” in length. Anyone else have this issue? My current plan is to visit a local Jeep dealer and see if they can order one but it looks like it might be 400-500 just for one window. I’m in unfamiliar geographical territory, if there are any recommendations on good dealers to visit in the area please let me know. If I get a replacement window, what is going to keep that joker from doing the same thing? All opinions, suggestions, recommendations are welcomed.

Do your top and windows this happened on have black or green plastic blades where they snap in the channels? If they are black, this is the original top that people had this issue with. The redesign made those plastic channel blades green. What is actually different I have no idea. I have had both though and the old style buffets more at speed without a doubt.

Sorry to hear! I had this happen to me also a few months ago. I can say my new one clips in more solidly on the corner pillar than it seems my old one did. Didn’t even realize the difference until I got a new one. It cost $475 for the new window. Good luck!

I like the joys of the soft top. Driving on the highway the other day it made a loud slap sound out of nowhere up top and startled the piss out of me. It's fun. Keeps you on your toes.

I love it even with its quirks. I drive with the top down alot and I love that you can just unlatch it and sling it back in seconds. If it starts raining pull over and boom 3 seconds and it's closed.

We’re all your side windows up? I believe the owners manual states not to exceed 40 or 50mph with the windows down. I too am concerned about this issue…I’ve been fortunate so far. I’ve even thought about attaching a tether of some type to the inside rear corners so the windows would remain with the Jeep even if they blew out.

Yes, all windows were up. I encountered a pretty strong side wind while traveling about 70 mph and pop it was gone.

Yeah, all my windows was up and the wife was asleep on the passenger side when, wham!! Damn thing got sucked out. I’m still in shock. Found one on eBay for $352.71 with free shipping. Bummer all around. Thanks for the ideas on the zip ties. I’m still scratching my head on how it could have happened.

I’m going to JB Weld the plastic part of the window quarter (not while attached to the Jeep) and duck tape the plastic tear to get back to NC.

I hope you are kidding about this. I own a Jeep, I bought it for the open air experience.

Maybe I've been lucky, but I run 75, top back, windows down.

You can see the side windows poofing in and out.

These threads always make me glad I have the aftermarket bestop option, seems to be hardier than the one they made for Jeep OEM. Granted one of my windows did blow out halfway going 70 but I’m 99% certain that was user error, I put them back on in a hurry with little sleep the night before.
