TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Toledo firefighters were on the scene of a large vehicle fire in an Auto Warehousing Company lot this morning.
Firefighters from at least 3 stations in Toledo were called in to help.
Toledo firefighters on scene tell 13abc that 18-20 vehicles were damaged. They say that all of the vehicles involved were brand new four-door Jeep Wranglers. Batteries, tires and gas tanks caused small explosions in the lot.
Fire officials say that the owners of AWC scan each vehicle as it enters the lot, and they are investigating to find out who drove the vehicles in last night, and whether this was a vehicle malfunction.

Several new Jeeps were damaged after a fire broke out in the middle of a parking lot in North Toledo, according to a Toledo Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.
Toledo firefighters responded to the large parking lot, which was filled with rows and rows of Fiat Chrylser vehicles, at Booth Avenue and Counter Street at approximately 5:42 a.m. Monday, according to the fire department.
Crews reported a column of smoke visible for miles. With plastic and petroleum burning, it produced a heavy amount of black smoke, the spokesman said.
Private Rahe commended crews for their work, as the fire was primarily located in a group of vehicles in the center of the lot. Firefighters quickly maneuvered through other vehicles to extinguish the flames, he said.
Approximately 18 to 22 vehicles sustained damage. The loss damage is unknown.
There are varying amounts of damage to the vehicles — from a total loss to minor heat and smoke damage, Private Rahe said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, along with which vehicle it may have started from.
No injuries or evacuations were reported.
Fiat Chrylser representatives will be evaluating the scene, Private Rahe said.
