It looks like the 2023 models come with standard wifi hotspot capability.
I have a 2023 Willys Sport on order and I noticed that my window sticker lists the 4G LTE Wi-Fi as being included.
I think in the past this required the 8.4” radio. Mine just has the base 7” radio and does not have tech group, etc…(basically base electronics)

It's pointless regardless. Put your phone into "mobile hotspot" mode and it's better than any connectivity the jeep has.
I thought it might be useful - I have a really low data plan - 2G per month for two phones to share. To bump to a higher plan adds a big price jump. The mobile wifi looks like it is unlimited and is $200 per year which is a lot less than the price jump for my cell. Would be useful for work at times and trave with the kids.

Man, I thought everyone in the US had unlimited data in the US. Lol. I see your point though.

I used it a good bit on my 2020 JT, and signed up for it again with the 2021 80th. However, it disconnected a LOT on the 80th or would get in a state where you couldn't connect to it. I ended up just dropping the service when we changed our phone plan to include unlimited data. I don't plan on using it in the 2023 (if it ever shows up).

Did they ever fix the activation issues? Been 3 months and it seems like it’s still a problem.

So does the dealer activate the trial for you when you pick up your Jeep or you have to do it yourself?

I got my 2023 on Dec 19th and didn't even think to check. My family all has 5G phones so we didn't need it. I just went out to the car in the garage and tried to check. I named the SSID and set a password but nothing showed up on my device. It looks like it isn't set up. I'll have to do some more research and see if I missed something.

Mine actually came in handy this past summer. We were deep in the mountains of Colorado and my Verizon phone had 0 service but the jeep had 2 bars.

unfortunately soon after this I started getting that error message and could no longer use it

If people are standing around and they all have different carriers, often one will have a signal and the others do not.
If you don't have a signal there is no reason that your jeep will have a signal

Unless, of course, the Jeep has a significantly better antenna. Or a different carrier.

So, when I got my 23 Rubi, it was Pre Activated with AT&T as a trial. It has about 1GB per month I believe and is active for 6 months.

What I did notice is the speeds do not seem to be as fast as my iPhone 13 data. Weird because they are both At&T.

I was going to use a Android OS box in the center console and use the Jeep Hotspot for data instead of putting my Iphone in hotspot mode each time (I can add it to my unlimited plan for $10 month).

But I think I am hitting the activation retail pause issue. When I try to put it on my plan, I get this message.
Jeep Wrangler JL Wifi Hotspot standard for 2023? 2023-01-09_14-33-54

So strange. It's not WiFi Ready? Um, ok.
