It's after Easter Safari and we've all seen the concepts. September October really isn't that far away so what do you think we will actually get for 2023. Not some wild speculations but real world thoughts, possibilities, probabilities.

Nothing shown at EJS was ground breaking.

No “mid cycle refresh”.
20th anniversary edition Rubicon
As usual, some colors will come and some will go
Maybe an infotainment upgrade
Increased MSRPs again
Perhaps slight wheel and trim changes
Maybe another limited edition decal package

I think we'll see Ucconnect 5 and surround view cameras at a minimum.

2023 with be the 6th year of the JL with no major changes so that along with competition from the Bronco will cause Jeep to do some updates.

My guesses:
  1. Updated interior with nicer materials, greater use of padded/stitched surfaces; use of Jeep’s new steering wheel
  2. Larger/more screen(s), a fully digital instrument cluster
  3. Adoption of Uconnect5
  4. Optional wireless charging
  5. Optional 360 cameras
  6. New colors, graphics and stickers
  7. We will get the new grille shown at the Easter Safari, plus new wheel designs
  8. Perhaps redesigned front seats
  9. If they can fit it in, we might see the all-new 3.0TT inline six. I can see the S.O. (Standard Output) version replacing the 3.6 V6 as the “mid” engine option; the H.O. version replacing the 392 HEMI as the top motor
  10. Will we ever get Auto Up windows...?!?

There have been major changes/updates/options. They’ve just been done incrementally, not even tied to model years. 4Xe, 392, Extreme Recon.

To a lesser degree are the shell games they keep playing with eTorque. Which engine is it with, is it standard or optional? The answer depends on the day.

Let’s start by examining what we know and the ramifications from those:
1. A fully electric wrangler is coming in the next few years.
2. The engineers have commented on the complex challenges delivering a fully electric wrangler on the JL platform.
3. A 2-door 4xe or fully electric adds even more complexity.

Prediction: 2023 & 2024 will be minimal incremental updates with 2025 or 2026 seeing a new redesigned platform that allows for the fully electric wrangler and gasoline models to use the same one.

I think the fully electric JL will be a hit in two uses
1. the burbs commuter, Cindy Sue the college stu, "rugged Joe the office pro", etc.
2 the 'trailer in to the 4x4 parks crowd' that has a large diesel generator

The rest of the masses that use their JL to travel across the massive, desolate areas of the country, will stick to ICE until their fingernails bleed.

Really interesting thoughts but it doesn’t make sense from a cost, design, manufacture standpoint to support different platforms for electric and gasoline. The current 4xe is limited due to the constraints of the JL platform.

I definitely think we’ll see different trim levels for the fully electric, but the underlying platform has to be the same to make the cost structure work.

Yup-same thing with a couple different colors and a few decal packages. They’re selling all they can build. Why change?

If they go all electric (only) in the near future, they'll lose a chunk of their current market share that travels to remote places where there are no plug-in chargers for hundreds of miles. That's probably not a bad strategy, since there are more Cindy Sues and Rugged Joes that buy new JLs than people that hit the true boonies. But abandoning their roots would seem to be risky over the long haul.

A Jeep, by it's nature, is an anti-electric vehicle. It's: heavy, an aerodynamic disaster, equipped with highly rolling resistant tires, high driveline losses, etc.. Nothing about a Jeep fits the 'efficient commuter' model.

I will go out on a limb and say that CAFE will mutate into electric vehicle requirements, once the big E movement gains traction. Right now, manufacturers can make big, high performance E vehicles like the F150, Rivian, Tesla truck, etc. without limits. But once it becomes apparent that the grid expansion can't keep up, they'll re-make CAFE into something to control E-vehicles. Energy is energy, and man hasn't been able to make it in unlimited quantities for free.

-Wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a second row removable hard top panel like the Bronco has.
-Also the washout interior accessory that is being made by Armorlite being offered as a factory option.
-Uconnect 5 is a no-brainer.
-LED headlights standard on all models.
