I didn’t take a picture of the ball from CMM before I installed it, but it looks sorta like this (except with an M6 threaded hole instead of a threaded stud):

Ah! That sounds perfect. Given the length of that base, did you just thread it directly on the factory studs without a coupler?

it seems like it'd be a little more stout than the male threaded M6 RAM mount and coupler. i do wish the post was anodized black (and probably a bit longer) though...

Pretty sure that neck won't be long enough to pass through the plastic header and grab the M6 stud. My CMM mount is bottomed out, and you can see that there is none of the neck showing.

You are correct about the coupler being unstable. With that setup, my detector/dashcam vibrated enough to mess up the video.
