If I’m doing the Tera flex 1.5” spacer lift, would a 2.5” shock extension cause any problems? The only thing I could think of is maybe the spring could unseat before the shock was fully extended (not sure if this is even a possibility), but maybe I’m not understanding/thinking of this correctly. Can someone please help me with this?

I'm probably not understanding this, but if you add a spacer lift of 1.5", the shock is extended by 1.5". You'd like to extend it further, but another 2.5", for a total of 4.0"?

That seems counter-productive. You've lost most, or all, of your ability for the shock to rebound or for the tire to droop as much as it otherwise could.

Shock extension shortens the shock uptravel, he will have to add bumpstop equal to the amount he raises it up, because the shock will bump out now 2.5” sooner. And now its 2.5” longer on extension, stock springs might unseat, dont know free length of them. He will have rasied the shock ride point by 1.5” with spring spacer, then lowered it back down 2.5” with shock extension. Pretty much shorting yourself of an extra 1” of up travel

I just looked at some installation instructions and understand now. The shock extensions don't extend the length of the shock at all, they do the opposite, they actually decrease the shock's extended length (seems like a weird name/way to market them).

Shock extensions are usually the same length as the spacer height. So it just puts the shock back at normal ride height, so it will compress and extend the same as did in stock location. The only way it will lose up travel is if the extension is longer than the lift height, as it is in this case.

To be sure if this will work you have to unhook sway bar and shock then droop the axle until spring gets loose, then snug it back up. Then measure center to center of shock connecting holes. Then measure extended length of the shock plus length of extension to see if it’s less than shock bracket length.

I get it, it just changes the shock mounting location.

Ok yeah that’s the same thought process I had in my head. This is my first time considering shock extensions so I’m glad it seems that I’m understanding how it would affect the suspension. Thanks!

Gotcha, thank you for this info. This is what I was looking for, thanks a bunch!

Quick note, since I only have a minute.

You're already probably an inch taller because of the 4xe springs, so that puts you at Rubi height. TF 1.5" Spacers are 2" in front.

I'm not sure what the specs are the Sahara shocks, but @AnnDee4444 has the Rubi and Sports in the spreadsheet, so I can show you those.

The 2" spacer without shock extensions may put you at or near full droop at ride height. With 2" extensions, you'll need at least 1.5" of more bump to protect shocks at collapse. Even with Rubi shocks, you'll only have around 1.5" of droop without extensions:

Also, I'd highly recommend considering new shocks with better lengths if you want to maximize articulation and off road capability.

A set of Bilstien 5100s will run you less than $400.
