So after car and driver said the 5,259lbs Jeep hit 60mph in 4 seconds flat and did the quarter in 12.9 at 104mph I was curious what the grand cherokee srt did.

That is listed at around the same weight but I'd assume the GC is a little more aerodynamic. It's not a straight up box like a wrangler is. That Jeep is tested at 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and a quarter mile of 13.8 seconds.

How the hell is this possible lol could the 4.56 gears be the secret to the wranglers crazy stats?

That’s wrong. My GC SRT hit 0-60 in 4.1. On the FB group I’ve seen 3.9.

Oh that makes much more sense then. Ok my apologies the article I read was incorrect then. Thanks!

What year gc are your stats from? 2021 shows 0-60 in 4.4 (no 1/4 mile listed) and surprisingly the weight is within 100 lbs of the Wrangler. Aerodynamics is nearly irrelevant in a 0-60 scenario. Gearing could easily make the .4 second difference.

The wrangler is still crazy fast. I was thinking the same thing you were, how the hell is that possible. I can’t wait to take the top/doors off mine to really see what it is stripped down.

I just Google it and I guess the info was pretty off.

I agree: 4.0 seconds seems a bit optimistic for a JL with the 392, 5,000+ lbs, 33-35 inch tires and the aerodynamics of a wall.

For reference, Ram TRX with the Hellcat engine, producing 708 hp, is in the 3.9 to 4.5 seconds range, depending on the publication. Grand Cherokee SRT with the 392 and 30 inch tires has been around 4.0 to 4.5 seconds; with the Hellcat engine it’s been around 3.5-3.9 seconds.

Car and Driver must have tested that Wrangler 392 going downhill, with a tail wind, and a bottle of wine over lunch.

Lmao I mean I'm happy. I have one on order but yea seemed a tad too good to be true. Not that I bought a wrangler for speed but it's a cool added bonus.

I tend to lean toward them being overly optimistic regarding those times. That's pretty quick. Not saying it ain't so, just a little hard to believe. Maybe a perfect day. Weather and such. At sea level for sure.

Car and driver testing the trx did 3.5 0-60. I think after everyone cried about the demon needing absolutely perfect conditions to hit the published number in the 1/4, fca started putting out more conservative ratings.

When times get below 5 seconds it has a great deal to do with driver skill. Most average owners, in 2 wheel drive with over inflated tires, on regular street asphalt will be lucky to see 6 seconds.

Sites usually vary greatly on 0-60 numbers fwiw.

Also the truck doesn’t have the same gearing and weighs 1000 pounds more. So that brings the TRX down to an equivalent 600 horsepower and then you have the gearing. I think that makes up a decent portion of the difference remaining.

VBOX’d, our TRX did 0-60 in 3.6. I expect the 392 will be 4.0, maybe less with the gearing. But conditions change things greatly.

The regular 392 is 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

The 392XR is geared way deeper by comparison regardless of 35s.

So you think the 4 flat is legit?
