Yep. That is really the simple answer. Most of the things we dislike about modern vehicles is the result of government regulations. You want cheap V8’s again? Elect government officials who will abolish CAFE.

I agree 100%Skipping pages 2-11 because this should be a really simple discussion:
why would Stellantis want to sell the jeep wrangler that costs them the most on CAFE for less money? They’re a business; they operate in the manner which their bean counters compute will make them the most beans. Pretty frickin’ simple.
You want cheap V8’s again? Elect government officials who will abolish CAFE.
edit: put another way, if Stellantis can sell every jeep they build (true), then would they rather sell 100 mild hybrids for $54k ATP or 100 “stripper” 392’s for $60,000 ATP? We can assume the former. The margins are probably higher with a lower CAFE penalty (all Wranglers pull the CAFE down except perhaps the 4xE, it’s just a question of how much).
Why are we here discussing why a multinational corporation isn’t doing what we personally want? Just follow the $$$ people
Thats not really true because they mark up every option more than their cost. So the more options they add on the more profit they make. They wouldn't be selling it for less money. They would just be allowing people to chose different options like cloth seats instead of leather, Soft top instead of painted hard top, plastic bumpers instead of steel ect... Their profits would still be the same!!
Cheaper options... so less money?!They wouldn't be selling it for less money. They would just be allowing people to chose different options like cloth seats instead of leather, Soft top instead of painted hard top, plastic bumpers instead of steel ect... Their profits would still be the same!!
If it was the weekend I'd make a drinking game out of your thread and drink every time you said scat packYeah we got a v8 Jeep at an insane price. Please humor me and explain why it's $75k+?
For reference the Challenger 392 Scat Pack is around $40k. Are you telling me the 4wd and leather make it cost double about $40k more??
I don't think it's much to ask if Jeep offers it with cheaper interior options like cloth seats to allow for a bit lower price. As it sits now it's loaded with every single premium option known to Jeep.
Well regardless knowing MOPAR a 392 Jeep with less expensive options is coming like it or not. I'd be shocked if it doesn't.Cheaper options... so less money?!
They sell every 392 they make; might as well make the margins as high as possible on the ones they do sell to offset the CAFE fines.
I’m with you, but to play devil’s advocate these guys are saying you should be able to build and order a 392 with comparable options to a Sport. I.E. a stripper 392.Sure, I will humor you... Go build a Rubicon with the 2.0 and comparable options to the 392. Its about 60k.
Couple posts back the OP said it would never happen in Willys, it would only be Rubicon. Which is why I used that trim level.I’m with you, but to play devil’s advocate these guys are saying you should be able to build and order a 392 with comparable options to a Sport. I.E. a stripper 392.
To me it doesn’t make business sense to take a CAFE penalty for less profit than a $75k 392.
Re: the Scat Pak.... the times they are a changin’ homies. You think you’re going to be able to get a sub-$50k scat pak in 2028? How about 2036? Maybe you can but it’ll plug into your wall. The days of the cheap V8 are almost completely numbered. The days of ANY V8 are numbered. Get em while you can...
That's not going to happen. It will still be a Rubicon and the same as it is now just with cheaper options like cloth seats.
What Jeep needs to do with the Willys is offer it with a rear Locker!
You lost me at unique seats!! I use the Scat Pack for reference because say it with me ALL JEEPS ARE OVERPRICED!! Sure if you use another Jeep to justify the ridiculous price you can make some kind of case. ..If it was the weekend I'd make a drinking game out of your thread and drink every time you said scat pack
Sure, I will humor you... Go build a Rubicon with the 2.0 and comparable options to the 392. Its about 60k. 15k gets you the engine, the hydro guide hood, unique seats, wheel, dash, badging/colorway and the warranty. What does a 392 hemi cost? AMW shows $8k. That leaves $7k unaccounted for. Think you could get a 392 swapped in for less than $7k? Would it have a warranty?
Looks to me even if you added no options to the Rubicon, and they did allow you to add the 392 for say $15k (using my math above) you'd still be north of $60k by about $1000
Its expensive for a wrangler. Its also the best wrangler to ever come out of Toledo.
oh right, gotcha.Couple posts back the OP said it would never happen in Willys, it would only be Rubicon. Which is why I used that trim level.
Emphasis mineYou lost me at unique seats!! I use the Scat Pack for reference because say it with me ALL JEEPS ARE OVERPRICED!! Sure if you use another Jeep to justify the ridiculous price you can make some kind of case. ..
Well we really cannot compare a scat pack to a JL, why wouldn't we compare the 392 to the same model vehicle? I get it, it shouldn't be this pricey, and I too wish it wasn't!You lost me at unique seats!! I use the Scat Pack for reference because say it with me ALL JEEPS ARE OVERPRICED!! Tell me this if it's not overpriced Why can I get a brand new RAM TRX for $72k msrp with a 702hp Supercharged monster engine for less then the 392 Jeep.
Maybe I'm missing something. Tell me more about these "unique seats"? Do they give hand jbs? I sure hope so.
Current Market conditions? What about before? And you didn't answer why it's more money then the RAM TRX in these "current Market conditions "? Lol..Emphasis mine
god, not this again.... jeeps are not overpriced. They are correctly priced for current market conditions.
If there were 150 days or more of wrangler inventory sitting on lots I could entertain that thought.
gosh, do you guys even capitalism?!
Even if you optioned the RAM TRX and the Jeep similar and they came out to the same price how is a Jeep with a 392 the same price as a full size truck with a freaking Hellcat engine. I just watched a video of a TRX racing a Lamborghini for christ sake. With a simple tune you can get 1,000hp. I'm sorry this is just Jeepers getting taken advantage of IMO like always.Well we really cannot compare a scat pack to a JL, why wouldn't we compare the 392 to the same model vehicle? Unique seats- I am just stating some of the differences that may not justify that 15k...but they are different.
Regarding the TRX - I do not think you can. At least you couldn't when I was shopping for a new truck. The ones that were close to that number you posted were missing a ton of options.
Back to the seats, only if you push the rub n tug button hidden next to the Offroad + button.
I assume because the demand is there for the Jeep. I will say I am shocked how many TRX and Jeep 392's I have seen in and around chicagoland.Even if you optioned the RAM TRX and the Jeep similar and they came out to the same price how is a Jeep with a 392 the same price as a full size truck with a freaking Hellcat engine.
