I'm trying to find a good interior spot for my CB Radio, but I can't find any. Where are you mounting yours?

Guessing someone will create overhead storage especially now that the cage provides a fixed anchor point above the windshield.

I've got a Unide CMX760, so I'll put the base either under the passenger seat or under the passenger side dash. The mic, which has the controls, will mount next to the grab bar to the right of the center stack.

That's a neat Uniden.. I'll have to research it. I have the same Midland I had in my JKU and LJ, but maybe it's time for a new one.

I know that a lot of you tend to use CBs for communication on the trails. I don't understand why there isn't more of a movement or a bigger push to a better quality and more modern format such as HAM/Amateur Radio...probably because of the test required to obtain a license...or at least GMRS which has a much longer range and can also be FM communications which will be much clearer and easier to understand. For me...I'll just stick to my HAM radio and use one that's had its frequencies opened up (commonly referred to as a MARS mod) so I can communicate on a broader spectrum of VHF/UHF (2m/70cm).

Yep, I don't want to take a damned government test when I already work 60 hours a week. No time. I also don't want to pay for a license. Otherwise, I'd love to do a HAM radio. Most trail rides I'm on are full of Jeeps with CB's. So, even if I did have a HAM or GMRS, I'd still need a CB.

If it is using marine radio frequencies, I believe the law only allows for water use, not land vehicles.

Actually...GMRS does require a FCC license. Cost is $70 but no test is required. People can apply for the license thru the FFC ULS Licensing Manager website.

Glad there is no test, but that 70 bucks is why most people I encounter on the trail have a CB, and not GMRS.

I've been thinking about putting my Cobra 75 here. It's accessible when I need it, but out of the way for when I don't (which will be 99% of the time). Just on the fence about drilling small holes into the plastic at this point since my double-sided tape ain't gonna cut it here.
