I am very sensitive to sound also. I can hear out radon fan in our attic one floor down yet no one else in our house can hear it.
Going down to my garage now to see if I have some foam strips to put in there and then take a ride. Will update soon.

While I did not go crazy with the amount of foam I pushed it there it did not seem to change the wind noise I hear - so maybe my theory is a bust.

What do the rubber seals look like at the top of your windshield against the front two removable tops? I think that's where your problem would be.

Here are two pics I just snapped. Similar to yours and I have no wind noise, whistling, whirring, open window sounds.

MoM, would you mind taking a pic of the windshield gap (the seal on the side) on your JL ? If you are reporting no wind noise, I am interested in seeing if your gap is even top to bottom or not. thx

I have several times, no leaks.
Once a week, not a drop. My JK always let a drop or 2 in the vehicle from various places (car washes and rain) and I never took it in once. ,,,

I'm curious, those of you that notice the wind noise... do you have the upgraded infotainment system? This is kind of a way out there thought, but the 8.4 nav with alpine system is supposed to have active noise cancellation (like bose headphones). It would greatly surprise me if that made the difference, but at the same time it's another thing to check off the list.

Just took out out a Sport hard top for a test drive; wind noise was not bad at all. Hit 80 mph fairly quickly with no increase of wind noise.

It is the frame of the windshield and it has a gap from the body frame where the grab handle is. The gap continues up towards the top of the removable tops. I assure you that yours is the same. Look closer at @NYJEEPGIRL pic, hers is the same, mine is at a slightly inward angle with more light penetrating through.

yes thanks. perhaps the whole seam ? it appears that yours is even top to bottom. that supports the theory that adjusting the windshield so the gap is even helps with the noise. mine is smooshed at the top and wide at the bottom and I have noticeable wind noise.

Hopefully, there's your problem. Question is, can it be adjusted?

Mine hasn't come in yet so I can't experiment. I was thinking that someone could use some blue masking tape and cover one seam at a time on the outside and go for a drive. Just keep doing one area at a time to try and narrow down the source if possible. Might need the 1 1/2 inch size to seal well enough. A new roll might be a good idea because the older the tape is the harder it is to get off. I would try this if mine was not still in parts at the factory.
What if the sound is the noise canceling?????

Picked up, wind noise around 70mph just sounds like a case of « it’s a Jeep thing », as in driving a house on the highway, whose roof is removable; could talk, enjoy the music at a reasonable volume. No worries here
