My favorite parts are where he says he gutted the electronics and put in a LS.

Straight forward: change out to D-60s, keep the 35s on 3” lift but like above comment; deletes and stuff a 7.3. Then just drive and drive.

You've won Powerball! Congratulations you lucky bastard. So, now you can afford to buy any vehicle you want. You can also afford to make your current Jeep into your version of the ultimate JL modifying it in any way you wish. Soooo... if money is no object, what would you do to your Jeep?
I would have a duplicate to off road with, so that if something broke (something will eventually) I have a daily drive spare!

My ultimate goal is a V8 swap so that would be how I would roll. A solid and reliable 500hp V8 swap along with upgraded axles.

I ordered my Jeep exactly the way I wanted it, so I would keep it, but I'd do a few mods:
  1. Paint it Dark Harbor. God that color is sick.
  2. Replace the black leather with saddle leather like the Ford King Ranch Editions have
    1. Since it's full custom, I'd have the backs of the rear seats covered in maybe marine vinyl or basically anything other than carpet.
  3. A proper suspension lift instead of my current pucks. I love the height but recognize that pucks aren't the *best* way to go about it
  4. Factory steel rear bumper but with the special kit to make it not crinkle on rocks. There's a thread in here somewhere outlining the changes.
  5. I'd buy a soft top for the summers
  6. Onboard air
  7. Onboard radio
  8. I need to replace the old man Sahara running boards, but I've not found what I want yet. REALLY love Nerf steps but also want sliders.
Unlike most, I'd keep the 2.0L and 33" tires. It does everything I want it to. I like to do my own rotations, and I don't think I could do 35" rotations with my back.

I would take it to bad ass 4x4 and say strip it down to the shell and get rid of all the electronics, motor, transmission, axles and start over. No lift , add the 5.7 hemi. Needs would be ps,pb,ac,pw and a fucking cd player, radio nav system. A locker system other than oem. Eaton or air. A lot of this they do already. I'm interested in being able to have piece of mind when going off road or to the grocery store and know the chances of a problem happening is less. I'm. sure I forgot something. I remember putting all new gauges (mechanical) in my older jeeps. Worked like a charm for many years. The new 8 speed transmission is great. Too bad it doesn't have linkage connections as a back up when the electronics crap out. I'm sure someone could add to this list.

The only proper answer is how many Jeeps I would have would change. I would keep mine, but pay for the paint to be properly fixed so that all the corrosion is gone and that beautiful Punk'n shines. Redo the interior with Mojave stuff for the orange stitching? I guess? LS7 maybe, but tons definitely.

Build a 2 dr JL to be as light as possible on 35s. I did this with my JK and I really miss that sporty driving feel that you get from a light little 2 dr Jeep.

Build a Gladiator on a 3/4 ton Ram chassis. Jeep tow rig the way it should be. No compromises.

Viper motor swap

Proper gearing

35s on new kmc grenade crawl wheels

3" lift vs teraflex spacer lift now to better fit the 35s

Change all the tan stitching to match the grey

Color match the "sahara" stitching in the seats

Mojave hood swap

Remove all carpet and truly waterproof the floors

Upgrade the whole sound system, especially the subwoofer as it sucks.

Get rid of any chrome anywhere

I think that's it, pretty small list really.

In all honesty i would upgrade my JL i have now. I'd axle swap ultimate 70/60 combo to run 39 or 40" tires add a long arm kit and drop a 5.7L truck hemi into it keeping the manual transmission and decent power and fuel eco. also i would add a set of KMC bead locks and Armorlite flooring and call it a day. I really enjoy my Jeep how it is now though.

First order of business....drive it to my former employer's office where I turn in my laptop, badge, and phone. I'd tell them I'm going to try to make a living selling tchotchkes on eBay.

It's later in the wheeling season right now, but I'm already planning to be in Moab in October. I'd find a way to extend the trip to be about a month, mid-Sept to Mid Oct. That will give me a few weeks here to do the necessary legal prep and getting the house in order before I call my realtor and tell him to dump it. Things I need come with me in the RV, everything else goes into storage.

In Moab, I'd hire various guide services to take me around. I'm more interested in the adventure than doing the hardest wheeling. I want to see and experience the BEST spots. A few weeks of wheeling and sightseeing would be just fine, not on any tight schedule.

After that, I'd probably come up with a list of stuff I'd want done to the Jeep and have someone do the work over winter. Not too much, though, it does need a winch. Meanwhile, heading South in the motorhome. I'd drop $100k on an RV lot in a resort down in the Palm Springs area so I'd have somewhere I can park and call "home" while I sort next steps over winter. The Jeep could also be the get-around vehicle in the desert.

No, I've never thought about this :D Not even once...
