Nobody says to carry a spare ECM/TCM, main harness, or laptop though. I've never heard anyone actually recommend that - Jeep, Toyota, or any other make.
Andrew St Pierre White recommends carrying a laptop for the modern Defender 110 in case you open the doors too often and kill the battery.

I stand by my statement. Andrew, if you're out there, you're nobody to me.

This gets my vote for thread of the day!

Had 2 bowls of popcorn laughed a few times and forgot the point all together.

This forum is something special in the automotive world.

Computer engineer checking in: That's nothing to be afraid of.

The big problem is poor quality wire harnessing, questionable harness routing, bad/cheap connectors, bad/cheap components, and sometimes questionable component design that leads to shorting out lines that shouldn't be shorted out.

Also all of those things are likely contracted out to at least a dozen different companies.

You can build something like that without it being a problem.

Refuse to learn how to handle a known, yet unlikely, issue, complain further that said rare issue exists, and then move on to the next thread.

Next question.
agree, except for tire changing, repairing, some simple tools, duct tape! if it breaks, im getting a tow to pavement, call USAA and tow it home. My days of pulling an axle out so we can keep a three legged bronco moving are over.

Even simple vehicles require spares to be carried. Back in blighty I ran old MG’s and Mini’s, each of them had a spare rotor arm, condenser, points, dizzy cap, leads and a small hammer to free up the points on the fuel pump.
Vehicles have become more complex so the spares to carry have fancier names and cost a good bit more.

The free hat I got with my first Wrangler is still the hat I keep in my JL lol. Feel like such a dork when I wear it, but a free hat is a free hat, I'll keep that in the Jeep for sure.
Its not the hat
