You wont need a lift with a Rubicon, but you will need spacers or Rubicon springs/shocks with a Sport or a Willys. Yeah you can get by, but there will be some rubbing here and there.
I have a 4xe willys. Those have rubicon shocks but not rubicon springs correct?

It’s gonna be a headache when I decide to do this. Cause I want to use the factory wheels but I’ll probably need a different offset going wider tire. Most likely will use the smallest spacers that will allow full articulation. I like the look of a more “filled” wheel well. So with that probably a half inch or 1 in spacer lift. I go off-road but basically just trails. Maybe some rougher stuff around the lake. But I’m not gonna be rock crawling.

I knew there were differences in tire size/width suspension/springs fender height based on models. But, and correct me if I’m wrong, the extra weight of the 4xe adds a whole new combination of these things doesn’t it?

You already have Rubicon shocks, but you will need Springs from another 4Xe, since they are heavier than non 4Xe Wranglers.

Another thing that anyone could do is just put a set of Rubicon flares to give some added clearance. No suspension mods needed.

Are there 33,34,35 tires out there that are 11 inches wide? I keep seeing things that are 10/10.5 then it goes to 12.5. I’d love 12.5 wide tires but I’d definitely have to get aftermarket wheels for that and I actually like and want to use the stock rims.

I might be the only guy who likes the looks of the non rubicon flares more than the rubi ones. Lol! I’m not helping my situation I know. Lol. Again it gives the wheel well a more “filled” look that I like.
If I go from 33’s to 35’s and from 10 wide to 11 wide then an inch spacer and an inch or even half inch lift should do the job?

This is what I did. Picked up some take-offs locally. Have two sets! Both were about $100, so waaaaay cheaper than ordering new from factory. Got one set from a Rubicon diesel w/steel bumpers, and another from Rubicon with hardtop, steel bumpers, and towing package. Hoping to get about 2" from these.
You mentioned the diesel and steel on your takeoff Rubicons... does that make a difference with the type of springs I'm looking for. Are the size/strength different depending on Rubi package? Just trying to nail down the exact springs I need for a stock JLU Willys (soft top, plastic bumper).
