I’m convinced that the under hood heat is the cause of the short battery life for both batteries. My 2010 Challenger has the battery in the trunk, away from engine heat. It was replaced once, and that was because the alternator failed at 140k.

It definitely contributes. Vehicles with batteries in the interior last several years longer, it just adds cabling and takes up space where there might not be any.
