Does anyone have pics of the REAR bump stop of an XR? Need to see what stock looked like.

I had a Clayton lift installed, and they added like 2” MORE bump stop, front and rear, killing all the uptravel I was paying to get back. I need to take it back and have that removed.

You definitely don't want to add in the normal bump stops our kit comes with if you have the XR package! You can actually run the kit with no bump stop extensions on the XR, and we also have a shorter set of extensions available if you feel you need them for the setup you're running!

Off topic XR question. What size Clayton lift would I need to run 37s? I wasn’t sure if the 1.5” Overland + plus would give me much additional clearance or just maintain the XR specs?

Our 2.5" kit is designed to run 37's perfectly on a Rubicon model. The 1.5" kit is really intended for 35's, but 37's will fit for on-road driving no problem

When they did my lift, they discarded the stock rear metal bump stop pads. The tech said he thought they were about 3/4". After doing some measuring and math, it seems like running without that pad could put me in jeopardy of over-compressing the 18.5" min-length shock. I wound up re-installing 1" of the Clayton bump stop to prevent the over-compression.

It was 7.25" metal-to-metal, and I figured I'd need 6.25" of shock travel, plus 0.5" for safety = 6.75" based on the motion ratio back there. Shock has 6.5" available (sitting at 25", 18.5" compressed). I'm short by 0.25". Too close.

Now, with the Clayton pad, it's 6.25" pad to metal. I need 6" of shock travel (5.5" plus the 0.5" safety buffer). I have 6.5" available. Leaves me 0.5" to spare plus the 0.5" safety buffer. Much more comfortable. Plus... I may be able to fit a 37" without rubbing one day!

Now... I'm really hoping a 30.3" shock isn't too long for the 2.5" Clayton lift!!!! They don't come in until March or so tho... running the smooth body Fox IFP right now, at 29.62" extended. An extra 0.7" didn't seem like too much on paper, but the more I tinker, the more I worry!

I've got a 2023 Willys JLU 2.0 XR on order. So till then I'm enjoying this forum learning about what I'm getting into. I think for what you get with the XR package it is worth it.

I've been reading about the XR front bump stop issue (namely it is kinda too long and folks bottom out earlier than the feel they should). I guess nobody's figured out an easy way to trim the tube an inch or so to make it shorter?

Inititially I thought these XRs came with the Mopar 2" lift; but I'm finding out it is only a 1.5" lift (why reinvent the wheel Jeep?).

My Jeep's coming with a dealer lifetime powertrain warranty as long as I don't lift it more than 2" or put larger than 35" tires on it. I'm good with that, as I don't plan on wheeling it hard (I've got a built TJ for that kinda fun - this JLU is going to be my daily driver). I am aware of the Mopar 2" lift and Dynatrac's EnduroSport 2" lift. Dynatrac's website says their kit isn't designed for the 2.0 engine JLU though. Any other 2" lift or 2" coils someone's using out there? I don't want to go with spacers.

Since this XR package is already set up for a 1.5" lift, my simple mind would think I should be able to just swap in a set of 2" coils and call it a day. Anyone just swapped in a set of Mopar 2" coils on their XR?

I went with Rock Krawler 2.5” triple rate springs and Metal Cloak RockSport long travel shocks. Love the combination and have used it on all my JKs as well.

how much lift did you actually get with this setup? Did you do any supporting mods such LCAs or geometry correction?

I’m looking for progressive rate springs with higher load capacity to offset my added weight and a small lift over the XR but don’t want to go too overboard.

this Combo gave me 2 1/4” lift in front and 1 1/2” in the rear over the stock XR. Then I added a heavier front bumper which dropped it about 1/2” .. No Geo brackets at the moment and all factory original control arms. I tried Rancho Geo brackets and they rattled and wouldn’t stay tight so I removed them. Handles just fine without them but I will likely put on MC brackets this spring.

My XR lift settled a lot with the winch install. Hardly any uptravel before bump stop. Clayton 2.5” fixed it up pretty well. Almost wish I did 3.5”. Might put in a 1/2” spacer one day… play the middle ground. Want to stay with the 35” tires and stock XR rims… really like them.
