Today, I took my 392 in for oil and tire rotation per the Wave freebies. While waiting for them to do the work, I wandered into the showroom and walked right into a new 2023 20th edition 392. It was so loaded up with "Upfit" equipment, it took the retail price up to $113,000. I had not heard of Upfit previously, but the salesman told me that it all was done directly by

the factory, although the factory window sticker was also laying in the vehicle. The Upfit charge was around 20K additional on that sticker.

At any rate, they wanted me to trade my 2023, 392, with 4K miles on it, so I said okay, shoot me a price. I had nothing better to do at the moment, but wait around for mine to be completed. The price they offered me was $40,000 difference :bandit: Yikes! They told me it was sitting there for two months, and now I know why.

That could be it, the AEV package. Seems I recall seeing that on the secondary sticker.

Yeah, that sounds about right as far as the AEV stuff goes. It ain't cheap, but it's extremely high quality.

And then you've got the opportunity to do things like their training on the sand dunes of Oregon that we did earlier this year.

The worst part is, they depreciated my 4K, 2023, 392 more than 10K!

I'm still shocked at the price difference between a regular Rubicon and a Rubicon 392, lol!
I looked in to the HEMI option for my 2016 JK Rubicon. It was 20K back then for a professional conversion. It's way more than that now. So my thinking is, the 20K additional gets a person the HEMI and factory warranty.

I would have thought they lowballed you more than that. Figure they would mark yours back up to 5k over the value they gave you which would be 5k under original MSRP. Would you have purchased a used one for 5k less than MSRP instead of spending a few thousand more for a new one? Not sure when you purchased it in 2023, but that is about right for first year depreciation. Most of the time it is around 20% the first year. The last few post COVID years of cars being worth more than they were purchased for are over...

I would like to see the "FACTORY UPFIT". I did not know the Jeep Factory does UPFIT. Ford does both internal and outsourced.

Maybe Jeep outsources to AEV???

To be honest, it's a 10K hit on mine and there is no deal on the other one. If we were dealing from dealer invoice (or below) on the new one, then, yes. I have purchased same year with 4K miles for a few thousand off. That is exactly what I did when I purchased my 2019 Rubicon. I keep my Rubicons close to stock, so when I trade, I have very seldom been offered less than the price I paid for them (off of the dealer invoice) two to four years later. In this case, they are allowing me wholesale (at best) for mine and charging me retail for the other one.

It's pretty much a mystery to me also... In past years, that stuff was added on by a different shop, or the dealer, for twice what it's worth, becoming a huge profit maker for the dealers. Not to mention that the take-off items that are part of the original sticker price, are kept and sold by the dealer to someone else.

For 20k, you can build your 392 however you like and still buy a beer.
