I personally love our 2019 eTorque 2.0. In my mind, this was a great combo - instant torque and then a spooled-up turbo. I'll read comments about turbo lag, and I think to myself 'there is no turbo lag', and then I remind myself that 2.0 hasn't had eTorque for several years.

I voted yes for both just in case the EPA does not remove any ESS mandate. If we have to continue to suffer with this system, then eTorque is infinitesimally better than the AUX battery disaster.

Hopefuly with the realization that the green climate story being a fairy tale and these mandates can be eliminated altogether, then I wholeheartedly agree to rip both systems out of the design.

Keep it simple, stupid...

I was not a fan of etorque, until I got one. Having both the regular 3.6 and then the etorque version has made me a believer. I like the extra pep if provides and the BSG is a beast of a charging system.

The mind control is working exceptionally well. Just keep repeating that there's an ESS mandate.

And by the way: there isn't an ESS mandate.

Not only no, he'll no. Etorque was corporates way to pass on training costs of an EV to the consumer. How'd that work out 4xe owners?

My etorque 2 door was lemonade because of how erratic the system worked, with no fix. If it worked for you, good. Enjoy the 4 grand replacement cost of the 48v battery

@Ratbert

The current admin is working on removing the mandate. Not gone yet. Hopefully sometime soon, it will disapear altogether.

However, what one admin can do, another can undo.

There you go using the "mandate" word again. Did you read the story you posted? Nowhere did it say it was mandated. Nowhere.

Hell, only 62% of vehicles are taking credit for it (per the article you posted), yet you are still somehow convinced it's mandated???

Stop/start, mild hybrids like eTorque, PHEVs like the 4Xe, Flex Fuel, etc, were never mandated. It's that the OEMs got 1-3 MPG fleet credits for offering them. That is a massive incentive that allowed them to not have to pay to offset their carbon, in the form of carbon credits.

As stand a lone options, or benefit to the consumer, the cost and complexity of many of those features outweighs the benefits. It would only take a few short years for the buying public to avoid the option, that offering it at all would no longer be cost effective for the manufacturer.

So the OEMs were never mandated to offer those features. Compelled or incentivized would be the better word. The only thing mandated would be the carbon credit system. That is the root of so many problems, and it should be abolished.

I'm in the no camp. Etorque does nothing beneficial. "Smooths out" transmission shifts? On a trans that's already world class? Makes ESS events smoother? Who gives a flip??? I'll take a $200 alternator over a $1,400 MGU that does NOTHING beneficial any day of the week.

I made the perfect choice getting a Etorque 3.6.
I can skim over the eliminate battery, ESS, and generally most complaints about the Jeep threads on this forum. Never have to push the ESS button to turn the system off and I don't experience any of the complaints about trying to make the Jeep more peppy. Still have the original 12v battery from my March 2021 delivery as well.
I wish my wife's V6 GC had it.
Along with the 4 Auto it makes winter driving here in the northeast a pleasure.

I like my etorque 3.6 and have no complaints. It’s peppier off the line than the non-etorque 3.6 and honestly I don’t even notice the start stop. I appreciate the extra instant torque off-roading as it keeps the jeep crawling along.

I understand that people don’t like extra tech that complicates their Jeeps, but the etorque has been one of the more seamless and trouble free systems in my experience with it.

With that said, I would still say let sleeping dogs lie and don’t bring it back. It’s gone, no need to bring it back and rile up people who don’t appreciate the benefits or just think it’s something being shoved down their throats. The country is too polarized and honestly it wouldn’t sell in this environment if people were given the option.

On the 2.0, it does have benefits. Zero turbo lag, just punchy power right off the line. And 1 mpg better. And never concerning one's self about start/stop.

For the 3.6, the benefits were less obvious. People who have owned both still seem to prefer the eTorque though.

My thinking is they had the right plan from the start - put it on the 2.0, but leave it off the v6 for the KISS crowd. Everyone's happy.

It seems those who actually have the etorque love it and these forums in the last five years have shown very little issues with it.
