I find it amazing that the manufacturer can't provide adequate blades when one is paying $50K for a vehicle.
It's the old principle of if they can cheap out, they will. No one is going to base their vehicle purchase decision on stock wipers so they cheap out!

We had our first snow storm yesterday and realized that the stock wipers were very noisy... I went to Costco after work and purchased 16 inches Michelin Stealth wipers... Wow quite a difference, they are so quiet ✌

I've never seen ice build up under a wiper and lift it off the windshield... It's a feature.

There are 3 basic styles of windshield wiper blade.
Standard - uses multiple hinges to form to windshield.
Beam or Hingeless - uses flexible plastic to form to windshield.
Winter - these are standard blades with rubber boots to keep the snow and ice from restricting the hinge movement.

My JL Sport has the beam style.

Okay, I give up. How does one go about removing the stock wiper blade? I know I'm missing something simple but I can't get the thing to budge.
You need to lift the cap before you slide the wiper off the arm... here’s some pictures

Any one know if the wipers can be shifted to a winter position, which would move the blade up to rest in front of the defroster? Similar to the images.

If so inclined, you could just loosen the bolts (easy to do since they're designed to be easily removed) and adjust the wipers up a little bit then tighten them back down. That might make the driver's side one go a little too far though.

I suppose I could but that would create an issue like you said. I went through the manual and there isn't anything about multiple positions for the wiper, so looks like my answer is no. Too, bad cause it would ease the ice build up issue during heavy snow fall

If you read through the forums enough, you'll eventually understand that NOTHING on a Wrangler was designed with snow/ice in mind :giggle:

Driving home in the snow yesterday my wipers were clearing snow fine, except at the very end of the swipe (vertically alongside the A pillar) where it didn’t seem to maintain enough pressure to move the snow. Anyone experience the same issue? I’m wondering if it could be resolved with dedicated winter blades or whether the wiper arm just needs more pressure. It was pretty cold out.

I hadn’t even realized there was a such thing as snow specific wipers. I thought anything without the exposed springs were considered winter-friendly.

Winter blades do work and are worth the few extra $$. The KO2's work great for me.(ohio)
