Vinegar and Dawn mixed together is what I use on my shower door. No commercial cleaner can beat it. Spray it on and walk away for an hour (or a day). I’m lazy, so I rinse it when I’m actually taking a shower with a little cup.

Anyway, yeah, my point is adding a squirt of Dawn into your vinegar will improve its efficacy. (Keep it off your paint.)

I’ll second (or third) using newspaper. Been using that trick since I was a wee lad washing Mom’s car in the 90s. Works great and doesn’t leave streaks.
What's a newspaper and where do I get one???

My windshield has something going on. Seems squeeky clean in and out but then low sunlight hits it directly and it has all sorts of streaks and what might be the hard water staining. I'm going to try the clay bar with quick detailer followed by the newspaper and window cleaner. Hopefully it works! Thanks!

Love it! Great ideas!

Thank you for posting!!!

I also totally agree about the "Invisible Glass" product. It is my favorite as well. They have a foam version in a can, but to me it does not work as well as their liquid that is shown in the video.

I use this and it removes anything stubbornly stuck to the glass, I got this from Costco, think it was cheap for either a 2 or 3 pack, can't remember, it last a long time so I gave away the rest, wash my Wrangler 4x a year and clean the glass once a month, this product cleans the glass no problem, spray let it sit, wipe with paper towels, finish with another light spray and micro fiber.

This is the stuff I only use. Cleans glass really well.

Barkeepers Friend is similar, but PPG recommends using Bon Ami. Been using it for over 30 years. Once you try it you will never try anything else.
Did not know you could use barkeepers friend on glass....I’ve always used it on my pots. Haha

Alright, update. Bought some different products, but started with vinegar and it got it off right away. Some of the products I think I'll still be able to use for sure as my car progresses with age (and just preventive), but should have just started with the simple stuff ;)
I'm late to the party, but my suggestion was going to be vinegar. The spots are a calcium buildup, and if you know your chemistry, an acid will dissolve calcium. Vinegar is an acid (about 6% acetic acid). To test this theory, place a shell (seashell) into a cup of vinegar. In about 2 days it will be white as snow, , in about 1 week it will be gone......

Just ask @cosine he knows!
White Vinegar.
X2, always leaves our windows on our house spotless after our sprinklers hit them regularly, and we have some of the hardest water in the nation :(

Problem is, the water spots are not just on your windshield. It's all over the Jeep but it's harder to spot. We used to acid wash cars that came in with water spots. It worked like a charm and totally safe. I can't remember what it was we used but we bought it from our detail supplier.

I just use cheap Sprayway glass cleaner after trying many professional brands over the years. Great at removing the film that develops inside the windows too without streaking. Until last year, I commuted 125 miles round trip from a very rural Texas county for 20 years and bugs would cover the windshield daily. Sprayway seemed to work the best for me.

Newspapers are the things you use to line the bottom of a birdcage. I think you can find them on street corners inside metal boxes that open up when you place change (an old form of money from before credit cards) in them.

Hot water and non- drinking alcohol, maybe vinegar.
