I’ve leaned mine forward to do wiring a few times but never all,the way down, You will need to remove your wiper arms and you may need a puller if they seem reluctant to come off.

Once you been smacked in the face with a bug like a hornet you will likely be hesitant to repeat it.Folding the windshield down is very convenient for installing things on the top of the dash.
As for driving, do it once and you'll very quickly realize why windshields exist. Your face will be fully subject to all dust, bugs and small rocks. You'll often have to resort to a personal windshield, i.e. goggles or a full face helmet.
And somehow they always seem to hit your mouth or eyes. No bueno!Once you been smacked in the face with a bug like a hornet you will likely be hesitant to repeat it.
One little trick I’ve found is smacking it a little with a plastic mallet while holding the arm (watch out, it’s spring loaded so maybe put a towel over the glass) and pulling at the same time. Works pretty good.I’ve leaned mine forward to do wiring a few times but never all,the way down, You will need to remove your wiper arms and you may need a puller if they seem reluctant to come off.
Or stretchersAlso made it easy to install the 106mm recoilless rifle in the M151s we used, which got replaced by the TOW missile system...
I have a TJ and it isn't a clean look at all. A big half finished frame remains.Another reason the original Jeeps through the M151s had folding windshields was to eliminate glare that gave the position of the vehicle away to the enemy.
I folded mine one to condition the seals and clean the area. It looks goofy with the windshield folded. Not the clean look of the TJs and older models.
Agree, not only does it look goofy folded down, it reduces visibility over the hood and makes the roll cage look goofy. I had a 1978 CJ7. the look was completely different. I used to fold it down regularly until I tried it at night, once, thinking it would be cool to buzz around town. It attracted the wrong kind of attention, got be an OUI stop (I was completely sober) and a freaking June Bug in the forehead.I folded mine one to condition the seals and clean the area. I folded my CJ-7 windshield down a couple of times, most memorably was when I had to give my mother in law a ride. She didn’t speak to me for weeks, it was so worth it.Agree, not only does it look goofy folded down, it reduces visibility over the hood and makes the roll cage look goofy. With my first Wrangler, I was very ignorant of the fact you aren't supposed to drive more than 15 mph (or whatever) with the windshield NOT tied down. So not tied down, we were roaring down the road at 50 mph when the windshield flew back and sounded like a bomb going off. Had my wife and daughter screaming. Even though I bought the tie downs, I never put the windshield down again. Is there any benefit to folding the windshield down when cleaning or waxing the Jeep? Any fun driving around with it down? I guess you have to come up with some type of hold down if you are driving above 25mph.

For me, there is a tier list for how much open air I want depending on the temperature. It looks something like this:
1. 60 - 70 deg: Sunrider top open
2. 70 - 80 deg: soft top fully open
3. 80+ deg: soft top fully open, doors off
My list assumes that the sun is out; cloudy days means the air temperature needs to be warmer. This also assumes that I am commuting around 55 MPH.
