WIndows one touch up...

Just curious after checking for a post on this. Has anyone ever attempted or found a way to wire the door windows to go up with one touch like they go down? Thinking it would be a nice feature that maybe Jeep should have included as long as they were going with one touch down. Thanks for any input to this.

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not... but many cars have this feature, mostly luxury cars. There is a sensor that detects if an object is in the way by looking for resistance. One of my favorite 'convenient' features. The ease of rolling all windows down or up encourages me to not use the AC so much.

I have an older Lexus ES330 and a newish VW eGolf that both have this. My wife always asks why doesn't the jeep do this? My answer is .

I'm guessing it's due to lawyers and removable doors. That excuse probably doesn't hold water though since the Bronco seems to have both.

Our '23 Wrangler 2-door has the silly one-touch down only windows but our '23 Grand Cherokee has on-touch windows both up and down. Go figure.

They will add it to later model wranglers. They need something to be able to upgrade in the future.

I never thought so much interest in one touch up feature.

Correct me if I am wrong... all modern cars have a feature to stop window roll up and roll down if obstructed. My 2009 Accord would annoy me when trying to roll up a window with a towel to block the sun. Needless to say it took many attempts to get it right.

Now for the fun stuff... the engineer in me is thinking, since I am working on a Reveal Pro lithium ion battery conversion (7.2v 60Ah, USB C 5v & 12v recharge on the battery case) , to bypass having ignition on for phone charging and cam use. Most of which will be behind the window switches... to get a 12v tap from the cigarette charge port.

Theory should be to use a 12v automotive relay with a pulse timer circuit. Quickly release window up when pulling up on switch on any window switch and a timer will activate the relay to roll all windows up.

If by chance any window switch is pressed to roll down, the relay and timer circuit will reset, leaving the windows stopped.

A simple RC timer circuit with a 2n2222A transistor to switch a mini automotive relay, that can either be connected to all up switches or just the driver side for single window use. If not able to make one yourself there are many cheap timer switches from China for a few bucks.

The Set & Reset circuit, or brains to make it all work...
An active low pulse trigger with reset can be made with a JK flip flop. One half to control the above timer. For those who are unable to make a set reset circuit, China is your friend.

I just did not expect to run into this thread, and all this is from the top of my head to make a simple circuit to do one touch up.

The bronco has one up, but with the frameless windows it needed the force sensors and other sensors to know the window position. Every time you open the bronco door it rolls down the window by 1/4 of an inch and after the door closes it rolls it back up. It does not move much so it is easy to miss. The windows moving up and down with every door open has got to wear things out faster but I guess that is the price for no window frames. And yes the window position sensor can forget where the window is and you need to do a relearn procedure but I have never seen this needing to be done yet.

If you rig a vehicle w/o the feature will it have the sensor to detect any resistance?

I'm pretty sure the only other vehicle that has (intentionally) removable doors that might have it is the Bronco.

Ok... I bit the bullet and ordered some modules. I forgot how simple the ne555 timer modules are, as for various functions and availability. Blame it on the Andrino guys. They are dirt cheap and have most of what you need to control window closure.

I finished up my wiring on the cigarette plug... Just remove the blue band that is a connector lock and release. Once removed you can lift the tab that holds the terminal in the connector. Once removed you can wrap and twist a stripped end of wire around the crimp tightly and secure with a wrap of electrical tape. don't go overboard, as it needs to be clean enough to allow fitment back into the connector. it won't bottom out like original but will be deep enough to be close to bottoming. Inside the connector is 3 terminals. One that is silver is the led light. The two copper terminals are 12v and ground. The ground terminal. Pink and green. Pink is 12v, green is ground. That will be your power.

I don't know exactly when the modules will come in, because of China shipping.

It may take me a week after obtaining them to get one touch functioning as intended. I already disassembled my window switches when I upgraded to the aluminum switch cover. The main reason was to clean the contacts of the switches and rubberized layer... like in tv remotes. I had one touch override on both switches due to needing cleaned. It was a bugger cracking the windows and having them drop down 70% of the time. That issue is no longer. Ha!

I'll probably have my lithium battery mod done by this coming Saturday. Will look into the window switches wiring deeper then.

I cannot rush or devote time, since my jeep is a daily driver and my hours are limited.
