My guess is the rears are 20% but your shop probably did 15% on the fronts to account for the light coming in from the windshield - which makes the fronts look lighter than the rears. So, while not a % match, it’s likley a close “tint” match to the human eye.

Yeah, that would definitely make sense to me. I can’t tell any different at all so whatever the percentages are, it’s pretty darn close. Ha!

Just an FYI .... the factory glass that some are saying is tint is just privacy glass and offers no heat rejection just privacy so when considering getting your Jeep windows tinted get them all done for the best heat reduction,

Here is my JLU with ceramic tint, I told them I wanted it to match all the way around and that’s when they pointed out the back is privacy glass and offers no heat reduction. They came pretty close to get it matched up with 30 % in the rear and 20% up front, I am slightly not leagal up front as Texas is 25% but I will take my chances

Frankly, I wish the factory would leave the rears untinted. This would allow us to add our own tint and get a match between fronts and rears - at whatever level we'd like. Right now, you're forced to go to 15-20% in the fronts to match the rears. I'd love to go to a 25%, for instance - but if you do that, you don't get a match.

Yes I wish the factory would have left the privacy glass out of it as it would have been super easy to get a 100% match and the cost savings from them not using privacy glass could have been directed towards say some type of other included upgrade, it’s not like they saved me money as I still had to get all the windows tinted to get the heat reduction

Took her in for tint today, asked them to match the front two windows to the back. Guy said that the back factory “tint” metered at 17 so he put 15 on the front. Film is LLumar CTX. The difference from 15 to 17 is not noticeable at all from the outside of the vehicle but I included a pic from the inside to show that you can definitely see the difference from that perspective.

Did 35% windshield, 20% passenger and driver and 5% rear doors and rear window. Very illegal but keeps the car cool

If you put tint on your windshield and have the acoustic windshield from the upgraded Alpine system, will the tint affect that? I would only consider a 90% or something on the front as long as it was a UV blocking.

Short answer - tint will not impact the acoustic lamination.

The acoustic lamination is an extra layer put into the windshield glass to help "buffer" some of the sound from reaching you. If anything, the tint would add another layer of buffer - though that is theoretical only, as the tint is nowhere near thick enough to actually provide sound dampening benefits.

20% on front two and 35% on windshield. I’ve had entire windshield done on all my cars...it’s a game changer. This is the first time i went 35%....not sure i would go that dark again. I’d stick to 50% if you’re getting full windshield done.
