FYI - Real info about JL window tint

Here’s my experience with window tint on my 2021 JLUR and 2020 JL!

Photo 1 - Current photo of 2021 JLUR.

• Rear windows are factory. VLT measured at 22%
• Front windows are about 38%. Factory 70% (written on window) + 55% tint that I added. They’re a bit lighter than the rear.
• Window strip is 35%. Local tint shop cut using their software template

Photo 2 - Latest photo of 2020 JL (with 2021 JLUR as I bought it)

• I don’t know about the factory soft top tint. It’s pretty dark.
• Front windows are 25% tint added to factory. If they’re 70% from factory, then it’s actually like 18%. Very dark
• Window strip is 25%. Also cut be local tint shop.

Photo 3 - 2020 JL as I bought it

• Same factory soft top tint. Doubt you can change it.
• Front windows measured 7%. Damn dangerous and it had to go.
• Tint strip measured around the same. Seriously, couldn’t see traffic lights at night.

How do you like the window strip? Currently have one on my Camry (love it) and want one on our JL too. But I am worried as the windshield is so small.
Do you like 35 or 25 better?

I feel it’s a necessity, because the sun visors often block traffic lights. I’m tall (6’1”).

I don’t see much difference between 25 and 35, except from the outside where 35 is easy to see through.

I wish that tint strips faded at the bottom.

The strip across the top is great. I have 55% on my windshield with a 5% strip on top of that. It helps block a lot of sun in the early morning or late evening time frames. Well, unless you are my wife who's 5'3" LOL.
