I'm currently installing my front bumper and winch. I'm a little stuck. I've managed to run the cables near the battery but I'm not sure if I ran them in an area that's safe. Is the way I ran them fine as long as I zip tie them together?, or should I run them through a different area?

A few videos showing how I ran them below.

Much appreciated in advance!!!

You’re fine, I ran mine up the same way. Just zip tie them up so they don’t end up in the fan and keep them away from exhaust manifolds.

2nd that. Route is fine, just zip tie them together and to things so they can't move and don't chafe against anything.

What about this? For some reason I can’t get the rope flush with the drum. It’s sticking out a little bit. 😭😭😭

I hooked to another Jeep and just idled backwards to gently snug it in there. The loop was at the back of the drum when doing this. It went flush.

I ran my cables toward the passenger side under the airbox and zip tied them surrounded by wire loom to something in a couple of places and came out behind the airbox towards the fender. Ran it along the passenger side of the battery and to the terminals. You just don’t want them to vibrate on anything, no movement that could lead to wearing the insulation away.

Deciding how to route the power cables was for me the only hard part of the install. Seems like there should be one best way, at least for each engine type... 🤔

I used split wire loom tubing over the power cable.

Can I spool the winch rope onto the drum without tension for now, so I can do it next weekend?

Sure. Just don't put any load on the line before you wind it under tension or the line will sink into lower coils and you will have a mess.

I loomed the hot wire, then ran them both up next to the fender then under the breather Next to the fender. I don’t like them by the motor.

I removed a few front screws and a plastic insert on the paper/plastic Inner fender well for a better peak, used the ole coat hanger taped to the wire end to pull up through about a two inch hole besude front of fender, behind the grill, found a pic on here somewhere, then ran under breather intake again next to fender straight back, used a wire to pull them, did not losen or remove the breather.
