where did you come up with that amp rating? Warn doesn’t list one. I highly doubt that one is rated for 500 continuous amps.
you can buy a battery jumper cable for like $5 and no need for the switch they provide if have the AUX switches. No need to spend $90 on the warn one.

You can piece it together cheaper but not by much. For most the Warm is the way to go.

It's listed on a decal on the solenoid. Another plus of the Warn solenoid is the insulator pads that prevent the mounting ears from directly contacting the Jeep. If the solenoid was to suffer an internal failure, current won't be passed through the Jeep. That could possibly damage other circuits and/or their components, or simply turn a body panel into an electrically "hot" point.

Exactly. It's a nicely put together box of everything needed, and what's another $90 on a convenience, after dropping a grand or so on the rest of the winch setup.

The Warn solenoid is rated at 500a continuous. I say that with 150% certainty. My zeon 12s pulls similar current as yours.

Your winch may spike at 330 but that’s not constant and the solenoid is rated higher thank needed. I’m not an expert on solenoids but my understanding is this one is more than capable of handling the load of 12s winch that I have.

I've dealt with solenoids enough to know that when they are over amped, the spring loaded contactor can fuse itself in the closed position. This would essentially lock the solenoid into a state of always keeping the circuit hot, even when the aux switch is shut off. If that happens, it's just a matter of winching time before the heat of resistance causes a full failure of the solenoid, rendering the winch useless until a new solenoid is swapped in.

Still waiting on my 2022 JLUR-XR but have been pulling together components. I don't like the idea of a constant winch connection for the same reasons others have mentioned. I tend to err on the over vs under-engineered. Warn states that the Zeon 12S draws up to 469 Amps so I wanted a switch or relay that could handle a continuous load at that amperage. I don't expect to use the winch too frequently so I was OK with a manual switch. I elected to go with the Blue Sea Systems HD3000 batter switch, which has a continuous load capacity of 600A (of course you need 2 parallel 4/0 cables for that). https://www.bluesea.com/products/3000/HD-Series_Heavy_Duty_On-Off_Battery_Switch. I've used Blue Sea Systems electrical components before and they are top quality made in USA (I didn't get that impression from the Warn solenoid setup. I'll need to figure out mounting after I get the Jeep. It's a big beefy switch.

If you wanted to be able to activate it from your aux switches, you could go with one of their ML-series remote battery switches, but it's a big price jump (I've seen pictures of a couple of rigs with them installed in the forum)

Just installed my winch and a solenoid wired to my AUX 1 button. This in a 2021 2.0. JLUR.

what setting did you use for the aux switch? Battery or ignition?

also any reason for using aux 1 vs 3 or 4?

Aux 1 and 2 are 40 amp.
Aux 3 and 4 are 15 amp.

Which is why I asked.
the solenoid has only a 5 amp fuse, no where close to 40. Wondering why you would choose to use aux1 vs 3. Am I missing something?

You can use either ones. The activating current isn’t too much for solenoids.
