So would appreciate thoughts on why Uconnect sometimes drops contact favorites. I need to start watching my pattern of connecting my phone, but it gets old having to re-enter favorites.

Agree. With the hundreds of car rentals I've had in the last two years, I've yet to have any unit do a wireless android auto.
Android 11 just came out though. Again I'd be very interested to see someone with a Android 11 phones feedback following the Android auto instructions on Google's site. I'm not saying you're wrong just saying...

How do you suppose that a device with android 11 would automagically change the software running on the head unit? The JL HU doesn’t support wireless android auto.

This is my thought process, and I'm not a phone idiot. I did 5 years of tech support for Cingular/At&t. Granted this was several years back and I'm not in the loop like I use to be.

Android Auto wireless was supported on devices BEFORE Android 11 on compatible Android Auto Wireless headunits. My buddy Rich runs a Kia dealership and he has connected to cars utilizing his Android 10 device due to the head unit supporting Android Auto wireless.

My point being is what is the reason for Android 11 advertising it is now wireless compatible on devices with the 5ghz wifi if it still required a device that supported android auto wireless? If that's the case it's nothing new because previous versions already did this.

A glance at the Android 11 official site shows the following (see attached images)

If it still requires a specific headunit then shame on google for their advertising. Cause obviously android auto wireless has been available prior to the Android 11 update.

You are ignoring the answer to the riddle “wireless connection requires a compatible vehicle.”

And when I click on the list of compatible vehicles (which I attached a screenshot above) it links to Jeep Wranglers 2018+... Did my screen shots not attach?

It did. It listed the wrangler as compatible with android auto. No mention of wireless android auto.

Correct but it links directly from that original page. Again, I'm not saying I'm right... I'm just saying the way Google/Android has advertised the update.

It’s been confirmed in this very thread that the wrangler HU don’t support wireless AA. But since we are throwing out android credentials, I’ll add this :

Wow! You have quite the resume. Again, I'm just saying pretty crappy advertising then on behalf of Android/Google. Sounds like you're way more advanced than I am. However, I'm like you, I've been rooting phones and creating apps since my Palm Tree 650. I appreciate your insight. Again, never said I was right, maybe just overly optimistic.

All good. Frankly, I wish you were right, but these car manufacturers are slow. FCA could likely do a software update to enable this, but I doubt they will.

I don't believe that a firmware update can enable this. Because the phone doesn't actually communicate with the radio via the wifi in any way. The wifi is more like a hotspot puck from AT&T that just happens to be in the radio housing. But you can't use it to update the radio at all. The only real connection is that the radio can turn it on or off.
