I ended up having to replace the stereo again, after trying everything i could and weeks dealing with AT&T. In your instance i would verify that AT&T have the correct IMEI and phone number associated with the new head unit. From what i understand the SIM card is built in the stereo so if you swapped out the radio they need to transfer service over to the new internal SIM. You may get lucky and thats all the issue is.

I’m having the same issue currently. It just won’t broadcast the SSID even though the check mark is clicked. Nobody really seems to care whether it works. For the amount of money that these jeeps cost these days you would think @JeepCares would actually fix this known issue.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Have you had a case open for this concern? If not, I would be happy to help! Please send us a private message.

I am having the same issue. My hotspot works randomly in my 2019 Jeep Rubicon unlimited. Shows bars but won’t connect, says invalid password

As others have said in this thread, my devices sometimes cannot connect to the Uconnect hotspot. I get a password error.

When it’s in this state, the Uconnect hotspot app on the touchscreen doesn’t seem to work. If you uncheck the hotspot, it is still visible by my mobile device, i.e., the app is not actually controlling the hotspot function. I’ve noticed the hotspot not working when the Jeep gets turned off and on multiple times, like on a long trip with gas station stops. By the third-ish stop-and-start, the hotspot is usually broken.

The only workaround I’ve found is pulling the fuse as suggested by the OP. I’ve done it so often, I broke the yellow fuse puller tool built into the fuse box! (Pulling the fuse initially freaked me out because the Uconnect completely resets, e.g., looks different, doesn’t have all the apps, etc. They eventually come back.)

Turning off the car and waiting a very long time for things to reset—like overnight—also works but is inconvenient.

This really seems like software/firmware could fix this, but no updates seem to be available to my late-2018 model.

Hello everyone, I am having same exact issue with my 2020 Uconnect system. Car only has 5k miles on it and this has never worked properly. Seems like when the car is turned off or even put in park this issues can come up. Seems quite random and fully frustrating. It is not an at&t issue. It is a car issue. We have brought the car into Jeep twice already and they have not been able to fix it or say “we can’t replicate the issue.”

anyone figure this out?

Same issues as everyone describes. My wifi is intermittent. Sometimes it shows on my devices and other times it does not. One minute it is working then all of the sudden for no reason nothing. Turning on and off my Jeep does not reset it. I am not going to keep rehashing what is going on since this whole thread sounds like my radio. I provided feedback to Jeep and like someone else said NO ONE cares.

my Jeep is a brand new 2020 and already has had a new 8.4 radio replaced after having it less than 7 days. For the price I have paid for this vehicle, the upgrade radio I paid for should be superior! I am paying AT&T for a service that I cannot use 60% of the time. Very upset with Jeep. We are talking about a radio not an engine!

We did some trouble shooting on our latest trip. When it inevitably stopped working we called uconnect to discuss. They conferenced at&t Into the call. They went back and forth blaming each other. Neither ended Up taking any responsibility.

From what I can tell this is a modem issue. The wireless broadcasts but there is no actual connection. I think this is an equipment issue.

It’s Truely pathetic that Jeep does not want to admit this is a problem and address. I think most of their units don’t actually work and people don’t even know because most people don’t use the equipment.

another thing I noticed is the software doesn’t seem to actually control the hardware. You can uncheck the WiFi to stop broadcasting in the uconnect software but still see it in your device.

What a total disappointment. Brand new car. Ugh. No one cares to help from Jeep to at&t to uconnect.

I agree. AT&T says it’s a Jeep radio thing. How can all the other vehicles on the road have no connection issues but Jeep does? And you are right no one cares. I have gotten surveys from Jeep and then personal responses back and I have nicely complained about this and crickets.

I also agree most people do not know because they do not use the equipment.

Hello,
Sorry to hear about the trouble you both are having! Please send us a private message with your VIN at your earliest convenience so we can look into this a bit further.

Hello Everyone, I wanted to share my experience since I have had a couple conversations that impacted people may find useful. I spoke with a person from UConnect that seemed to know their stuff. They acknowledged that this is a known issue. They believe it is a software issue that is relatively common. Many people may not even know they have the issue due to non use of their equipment. She told me they are currently piloting new software in Detroit area that they believe will solve the problem once and for all. IF the testing proves out their solution works, they will deploy across the US later this year. I know it sounds familiar to some comments made in past years, but that is what I was told directly by a representative from UConnect last week. If you want more details, feel free to ping me.

Thank you for the information. It would be nice to be able to use my wifi in brand new Jeep ALL the time and get service that I am paying for. If they know it’s a known issue, we should be compensated especially for those of us who has had radios replaced and still continue to have issues. I don’t even have 4500 miles on my Jeep and the radio was replaced once and it could be replaced again. I have issues with this one too. What are the chances of someone getting two bad radios?

The other issue I have with this radio is and I have the 8.4 Alpine, is with saved presets....when I hit next from my steering wheel it does not go to the next preset. It goes to the next number up from whatever number station I am on.

Just found this thread. I have the same issue on a 21 Gladiator and a 2020 Duango. Both just bought in Hawaii. Less than 250 miles on them. Wifi will not broadcast. Cannot change ssid or password in settings. Very frustrating. This appears to be a uconnect issue across all daimler chrysler cars since an internet search shows this happening to all their brands of vehicles.

Wolf, you have to be in park to make any changes in case you are not. I spoke to someone who seemed to know what the issue was with Uconnect and they were testing a patch in Detroit that they were hoping fixes the issue. If it worked she said they would roll out to the rest of the US.

There is a way to change the ssid and password but it’s not intuitive. But like someone said you do have to be stopped to change it.

My 2020 is still having broadcasting issues where we see it but will not let us use my own damn WiFi. All my trips are short and very frustrating when my trip is 10 miles r/t and cannot use it. It will work then stop. For no reason.

I still only have under 4800 miles on my Jeep too.
